Clubhouse were the summer saviours of 2020 with their track Weekend being a runaway hit, garnering millions of streams the laidback summer haze filled single with jazz undertones made our quarantine summer the most enjoyable it could be, despite the track having an underlying message beneath it. That’s what I love about their sound though, they manage to fuse sadness and joy together in this saudade euphonic setting that, no matter what mood you’re in, manages to speak directly to you. Now the band open their 2021 accounts by doing what they do best and produce easy going indie bops that we’ll be listening to on repeat.

Heartbroke follows the same formula of their previous releases with woozy guitar riffs gliding over balmy beats as the celestial falsetto dances effortlessly between them both in an amalgamation of groove inducing quality. Whilst the lyrics might focus on heartbreak the uplifting production creates a compelling juxtaposition that allows the bittersweet vibes to come rushing through as the addictive melodies get your foot tapping and the hooks wriggle their way into your head. Clubhouse have got that x factor which makes them so utterly charming and damn near irresistible, I just adore all their music.

Speaking about the track the band says, “For us, ‘Heartbroke’ isn’t just about one of our experiences with someone we loved. It’s a combined reflection from all five of us on those relationships that drove us absolutely nuts. When you love someone so much, but you know you’re going crazy trying to make it all work.”
