From what the world has witnessed, everything that comes out of Florida is hot, thorough, and sensational. The concept doesn’t exclude rising singer-songwriter, Savannah Cristina. Best described as a sultry and sensual R&B talent with face and body like the gworls would say, the twenty-three-year-old artist has a cosign from the GRAMMY® award-winning singer Alicia Keys. I think there are two people to publicly get that honour, and that is Snoh Alegra and HER, which is huge! When asked about the conception of the record, she shared that she wrote it “one night at the studio after a long day of being in quarantine.”

She continued and paints the picture, “I was in my grey sweats eating snacks and feeling ‘not-so-sexy’.” Next, the thoughtful artist went into detail about the way she felt.

I was honestly missing how it felt to be feeling myself like I usually do. When I started writing to the production, this sensual, confident person took over me. I knew that this would be my anthem. The song I danced to in the mirror after a shower, the song I played when I tried on a new sexy outfit—at a time where bodies are heavily policed and controlled.

I think we’ve all been here during this quarantine: Unsure about our futures and ourselves, but there’s nothing like a good record to lift us all in spirit. Last but not least, the artist of Dominican/Caribbean descent, is all about self-love and self-discovery through practices of what she calls “soul therapy”, which helped her to create what we’re supporting today.

‘Body Work’ is a symbolic ode to taking ownership of your autonomy. Your body is a work in progress… and it should always work to suit your lifestyle and happiness!, she exclaimed.

What I enjoy most about Savannah Cristina so far, is how relatable she is when she talks about her body, although, she is a strikingly beautiful woman. You can watch the music video for ‘Body Work’ exclusively on GRUNGECAKE below directed by Heatwave. It captures a heated workout session with her fitness trainer.

If you enjoyed watching ‘Body Work’, Savannah Cristina also has official videos out for ‘Self-Care’, ‘F’d Up’ featuring Flo Milli, and ‘Gold Mine’. Check them out.
