1. Fatpocket – Trap Pocket

Source:Fatpocket

Today, hip-hop artist Fatpocket released his new project “Trap Pocket,” which includes collaborations from BIG30, YTB Fatt, Big Homiie G, Goldenboy Countup and AllSummerLong, and is currently available to stream HERE via N Less Entertainment/Connect Music.

The 16-song project brings out his hustle mentality with lyrics flaunting his riches, money pursuits and his connection in the streets with featured singles like “Turn Yo Scale On” and “Say U Scared.” Showcasing his versatility, he delivers a slow-tempo R&B style track for the ladies, “I Want Real” with breakout artist, AllSummerLong. The project concludes with “Thug Therapy” as he gets more personal, reflecting on street life, betrayal from friends, providing for his family and coping with the pressure to make it in the rap game.

Most recently, he dropped the single “Wat Trappas Do” off the project after previously releasing his single and music video for “Live From The Trenches” back in April. Both singles, set the tone for the raw truths he raps about, while living up to his “Fatpocket” name.

Earlier in the year, he continued his momentum with a string of fiery single releases like “I Paid The Cost” and “Wait Your Turn” that featured hard-hitting beats and his signature bold, confident lyrics, while acknowledging the work he put in thus far.

“Trap Pocket” marks Fatpocket second project, following the release of his debut mixtape “Mastermind” in March 2023 to represent bringing his rap dreams to fruition. With his respect in the streets and money-chasing lifestyle before hitting the rap scene, Fatpocket showcased his confidence in his artistry with singles like “In My Own Lane,” “Price Change,” “Superstar,” and “The Biggest”. That same year, he released “Scars On My Back,” which revealed his introspective side with melancholic lyrics on losing people, betrayal and overcoming life challenges.

The Florida native began his music career back in 2022, when he released his first single ever, “3:28am In Miami” as his introduction to the rap game, while reaffirming his hunger for success.

After linking up with YTB Fatt, he signed with N Less Entertainment as their first artist outside of Memphis the following year. Shortly after, he was featured on the label’s compilation album, “We Connected” with the high-energy single “Type,” alongside his labelmates Moneybagg Yo, BIG30, Big Homiie G, Dee Mula, Fredo Ruthless and more.

2. Oxlade – ARABAMBI (Acoustic Version)

Source:Oxlade

Continuing to prepare for the release of his debut album Oxlade From Africa, coming this fall, Afrobeats star Oxlade delivers a special acoustic version of his new song “ARABAMBI.” In the new acoustic version of the single, a love song that blends Afrobeats, R&B, and pop, Oxlade leads a 7-person ensemble, featuring acoustic guitar, 6-string bass, cajon percussion, violin, and three background vocalists. Wearing a dazzling yellow suit, Oxlade stuns with his textured vocals, expressing the yearning lyrics through his passionate vibrato and falsetto. I always love when Oxlade does different live versions of his songs, really displays his vocal prowess and musicality.

“Arabambi means ‘the child of the people,’ ‘the community gave birth to this child,’ ‘the one.’ It’s also the nickname of K1 De Ultimate, an iconic Nigerian Fuji musician. The melody is inspired by the American singer Miguel and the way he uses his vocals. It’s a love song but it’s still me in my braggadocious elements. It is the original song I was meant to perform for COLORSxSTUDIOS before I swapped it for ‘Ku Lo Sa.’” – Oxlade

8. HEEMS – RAKHI

Source:Heems – Topic

Himanshu ‘HEEMS’ Suri releases the third single from VEENA LP, his second album this year, and each of the three songs showcases a different sound represented across the album. New single “RAKHI” features fellow Queens natives Pavvan & Ajji, the former of whom first collaborated with Heems over a decade ago on “Jhootay Lare” from his 2012 fan favorite Nehru Jackets mixtape where Heems worked with local high school students in Richmond Hill, Queens to raise awareness about gerrymandering in a successful campaign to redraw city and state boundaries.

“This is what community work does,” Heems says of the collaboration, “they made us a district and gave us a star. My man went from a high school kid around recording equipment for the first time to a successful Punjabi artist representing for New York”. He went on, “this one for me was a bit of A&R work, some cultural engineering. I dealt with a lot of multicultural collaborations in the music business and now I have an example of how I would do it, centering it around an instrument used by two cultures”.

“RAKHI,” is produced by Evergreen Univerze aka Karan Dhillon, who also engineered LAFANDAR and the forthcoming VEENA LP. Asked about the collaboration, Dhillon said: “Panjabi music and Hip-Hop always inspired me. Heems asked for a tumbi drill beat and I got my boy Dilbagh (Nagi) to play in the studio. I laid the drill beat out and it was like magic. For me and my partner Barbados, working with Himanshu has been a dream come true.”

Heems adds on first connecting with Evergreen Univerze: “I met Karan at a family party when we were both helping the aunties clean up. He mentioned his spot in the neighborhood and it was important for me to be there – in my community, near my home, around Panjabi folk – while I made this music. I needed that security blanket of community, like the voicemails on the record, as I was coming back after 6 years.

The track finds Heems contemplating drill through the lens of the Indian diaspora as well as its West Indian enthusiasts. He mentions not just Queens, but making it for Toronto and London as well, where Jamaicans and other West Indians live side-by-side with South Asians. “RAKHI,” the holiday where girls tie an ornamental string of the same name around their brothers wrist,wD siblings and named after the ornamental seeing a names after includes a tumbi, an indian string instrument known for its use on Punjabi MC’s “Mundian To Bach Ke,” played by Dilbagh Nagi. Heems dips into a lower vocal register, and speeds up his bars, sounding natural on the UK variety of the genre. VEENA LP explores genres within rap, like Tamil Pop Rap with Navz-47 on “Flowers,” Drill on “RAKHI,” or Jazz on his lead single “MANTO.”

VEENA LP is a confessional record confronting trauma across its many forms – generational, familial, and complex. Included in the upcoming album’s vinyl artwork is also a letter Heems’ mom sent him when he admitted he needed help and took some time off, a testament to the deeply personal nature of the album.

Check out “RAKHI” above. See album details below, and stay tuned for more Heems coming soon.

11. Dua Saleh ft. Sid Sriram – time & time again

Source:Dua Saleh

Today the multidisciplinary Sudanese-American artist Dua Saleh (they/them) shares their new single “time & time again” featuring Sid Siriam from their highly anticipated debut album, I SHOULD CALL THEM, out October 11th via Ghostly International. The sublime single reveals another captivating and more tender side of Saleh in soulful collaboration with Siriam. Saleh’s gentle cooing evokes the softness required to survive as the track honors an ever-present bond that can exist between two souls but can never be anything more, resulting in a sense of peace and duality that is at the core of their debut album and which is so beautifully captured in the companion video. The track is yet another display of Saleh’s staggering prowess as a singer, songwriter, and sonic architect. I SHOULD CALL THEM houses a collection of R&B-infused electronic indie-pop songs that portray the spiritual power, resilience, and joy of love found between two star-crossed lovers. Equal parts imaginative and lived-through, it’s a statement record only Saleh could make.

Throughout I SHOULD CALL THEM, Saleh is elastic in how they use their voice and tune the scenery to love’s sweetness and the moments that challenge it. The album features striking collaborations with Gallant, serpentwithfeet, Sid Sriram, and Ambré and production contributions from highly acclaimed Grammy nominated producers such as Rogét Chahayed (Travis Scott, Jack Harlow, Khalid, Doja Cat), Biako (Fousheé, Yuna, Jean Dawson), Stint (Carly Rae Jepsen, Kesha), and 1Mind (Juice WRLD, Don Toliver, Lil Yachty). It serves as Saleh’s first body of work since their contribution as a co-writer for Travis Scott’s UTOPIA track ‘MY EYES’ (alongside Justin Vernon and Sampha), returning to their breakout role in the Netflix series Sex Education, and taking the cover of GAY TIMES as their 2023 Rising Star in Music honour recipient. Here Saleh shapes their most vulnerable work to date, an apocalyptic narrative informed by environmental anxieties and their experiences as a lover, holding personal truth and hope amidst chaos.

I SHOULD CALL THEM is available for pre-order today HERE

DUA SALEH ON “time & time again”:

“The song reflects someone who could have been the forever person but we weren’t meant to be in this time. We still have this deep bond and, maybe this happens more in queer relationships, we still look out for each other.”

SID SRIRAM ON “time & time again”:

“I’ve been a big fan of Dua’s music for a while now. When Ryan Olson hit me up about being a part of ‘time & time again’ I was immediately excited. I listened to the record and was even more excited. I was staying in Red Hook in New York at the time, got right into the studio and knocked out my vocals that afternoon. I’m honoured to be a part of the song.”

12. Yaya Bey – career day (Exaktly remix)

Source:Yaya Bey

Today, Yaya Bey partners with frequent collaborator and producer Exaktly to share a remix of the standout track “career day” from her critically acclaimed album Ten Fold released this past May. On the new remix, Exaktly transforms the steady groove of the original album cut into an energetically smooth dance track, driven by stuttering hi-hats and jersey club kicks. Exaktly also produced “eric adams in the club” off Ten Fold and “ascendant (motherfxcker)” from her 2023 EP Exodus the North Star. Now, they reunite to join forces once again to deliver a reimagined version of the track overlaying its ethereal and psychedelic foundation with a verve perfectly suited to ring off in the club, pointing back to the many facets of Yaya’s identity that she expresses on her new album.

Yaya’s undeniable talent has resulted in critical support from outlets like EssenceELLENPRPitchfork (who named Ten Fold Best New Album in their review), SPIN and FLOOD. Beyond the music, Yaya has served as the creative director, co-director and stylist for each of Ten Fold’s visuals, utilizing her skills as a visual artist to create a cohesive vision for the album. She showcased her profound artistic presence through the live performance of “me and all my n****s” at her widely lauded Tiny Desk concert and captured attention at SXSW, where Rolling Stone highlighted the dynamism of her vocal performance. Earlier this year, Yaya also starred alongside Immanuel Wilkins in an ad campaign for Converse’s recent collaboration with New York-based brand AwakeNY.

On Ten Fold, Yaya delivered a free-spoken masterpiece that speaks to the intricacies of persevering through a year punctuated by grief and loss, life-altering milestones and everything in between. As a second-generation artist, Yaya’s learned the lessons to feel resolute in her relationship to music and root her songwriting in a realistic portrait of what it means to be an artist. Next week, she will be performing at the UK’s We Out Here Festival, following a Summer tour that saw her take on Brooklyn, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, and Philadelphia.

Listen to Exaktly’s “career day” remix above and stay tuned for more from Yaya Bey.

13. Mondo Cozmo – KIlling Floor

Source:Mondo Cozmo

Today, Mondo Cozmo — the enigmatic musical force who commanded notoriety and critical acclaim with album, Plastic Soul and number one single “Shine,” released a slow burn, indie rock epic single “Killing Floor.” The single will be featured on Mondo Cozmo’s It’s PRINCIPLE!, a varied, grizzled, intense, sincere, and intricate rock album produced by Mark Rankin (Queens of the Stone Age, Adele) due for release August 30 via Last Gang Records. Listen here and watch the official music video here.

Cozmo also announced his upcoming fall US tour with dates including New York’s Brooklyn Made, Philadelphia’s Underground Arts, Chicago’s Schubas Tavern, Asbury Park’s Wonder Bar and more. Tickets will be on sale this Friday, August 9 at 10amET. Link here.

Cozmo shared a sincere statement with the release, revealing his wife is the inspiration behind his esoteric lyrics.

“My wife was the singer of a band called ‘Apocalipstick’ (a brilliant name), which inspired the line ‘She was a singer in a punk band when she came for me,’” Mondo stated, adding, “She lived in the lower east side of Manhattan. I would take the train up from Philly and stay with her in those early days. I didn’t care for the city – it was dirty and intimidating and I’m too polite to engage properly with all of it. There’s a poem in one of my dumb books by David Henderson depicting a funeral procession for a dead playwright. In the second verse he wrote ‘They scatter your ashes all over the lower east side.’ She underlined this passage in red and wrote ‘scatter me on the lower east side.’ So I added in the 2nd verse – ‘I remember when you said scatter me across the streets, on the low east of mansions and time machines.’ This thinking led me to add the ‘everybody dies on the killing floor’ line in the chorus.”

Mondo Cozmo, also known as Josh Ostrander, began his career as part of bands Laguardia and then trio Eastern Conference Champions. The latter experienced a degree of success, with a song featured on the Twilight soundtrack. But that wasn’t enough for the Philadelphia native. Soon, the band split and Ostrander began recording under the moniker Mondo Cozmo. Now on his own, he did everything it took to survive in order for him to make his music successful. He slept on sofas, cut costs when possible. Like all good things, success came after many years of hard work.

Cozmo has released a series of acclaimed albums including the critics darling Plastic Soul, which landed him number one single in “Shine,” and helped him find fans from Butch Vig to Bruce Springsteen, who praised his songwriting in a New York Times article. He has landed and lost major label deals, and opened for pretty much every band in America. He then forged an independent path, releasing more critically acclaimed albums, and punched a glass window in a fit of frustration and nearly ended his career.

Various speed bumps like this spurred a transformative journey for Cozmo, he took bold steps, parting ways with his manager of 15 years and immersing himself in the world of acclaimed producers and engineers. Thanks to the power of social media, he connected with Mark Rankin (Queens of the Stone Age, Iggy Pop, Weezer, Florence and the Machine). After some preliminary work zapping files back-and-forth, they headed to Cozmo’s studio near Lake Arrowhead.

As Cozmo/Ostrander wrote the songs that comprised the album, the impending death of his dog, Cozmo, weighed heavily on him and served as inspiration. As he felt Cozmo’s time slipping away, Ostrander spent more time with him, including bringing him to studio during the sessions. Much of the album’s lyrical matter addressed the impending death and the emotions he was going through at that time.

Throughout the process, Cozmo was conscious that he needed to make a concise record that was focused, but he had an unprecedented creative spark. He wrote 70 songs. Centerpiece and title track “It’s PRINCIPLE!” is built around an abstract and compelling lyric, “So I’m slashing tires on Main Street America.” The song almost didn’t make the cut. Since it was one of the earlier songs Ostrander recorded, after sending the song with Rankin he immediately felt sender’s remorse. He nearly deleted the song before Rankin responded to tell him that the song should lead off the album. He decided this would be his torch light, to trust the opinions of those around him whom he respected.

Fueled by newfound confidence and determination from positive collaborations with industry giants, the album has a cocksure bluster of an artist that has run out of f**ks to give, and all the better for it. Previously released single “Angels,” is a wall of sound rock epic with momental lyrics. “Sundown In An Age Of Fear” is more abstract but contains a refined energy, hard to pinpoint but compelling to its core.

In the end, Mondo Cozmo’s fourth studio album is his most complete and vulnerable body of work. Instead of an ending, it marks a new beginning. Not many artists are fortunate to successfully hit the reset button. Yet, that’s exactly what It’s PRINCIPLE is: an artist, who has been through it, taking a big swing and connecting with an album he believes he made for himself, but it would be nice if others like it too.

Cozmo concludes, “I guess I made this record for myself. I mean I didn’t play any demos for anyone who absolutely didn’t need to be involved. And I actually don’t care if anyone likes it. I mean it’s glorious when they do but I think as a defense mechanism I believe I have created this wall to guard the creative spirit. Maybe that’s what Rick Rubin was actually talking about when he said ‘make music for yourself.’”

14. Jake & Shelby – Control

Source:Jake & Shelby

Today, Nashville-based pop duo Jake & Shelby release their new single “Control,” out now via EMPIRE NASHVILLE.

This song is about not wanting to lose control… but also deep down knowing there’s so many things that are impossible to have control of. Jake & Shelby released their debut EP Just Us in January,, and gained fast attention online for their covers, chemistry, and songwriting. They met at music school in the Nashville area, and have been making music together for over two years.

Kim Kardashian asked them to send a special birthday song to her sister, Khloe, on Instagram saying, “Khloe and I are such big fans. Thank you Jake & Shelby for making Khloe’s bday extra special. We love you.”

Fans were immediately taken with the duo’s chemistry in those early social posts. “We just knew when we started singing together that it felt right.” It feels right indeed. Jake & Shelby are currently in the studio working on their debut album and will be following up with live shows later this year.

Reflecting on his life and memories, theMIND realized he often existed without truly being present. In response, the album finds him exploring the overlooked aspects of love, such as lust and missed opportunities to deeply understand someone. It’s an exploration of the accidental nature of love, where feelings arise unintentionally, placing a microscope on the antihero aspect, where acknowledging faults and imperfections becomes a part of the narrative journey.

During his darker times, dealing with grief and the challenges of the aftermath of being in the foster care system throughout his childhood, theMIND struggled with feeling undeserving of love. “So many people say I light up a room,” he reflects. “I felt like I was dancing in front of people, but nobody could see the tears on my face. Creating these songs made me feel the weight of my own body when I was lost in love and existence. Crying makes you aware of your feelings, while dancing keeps you present. Doing both in the middle of nowhere makes you feel present, even in the void.”

Each track builds upon a journey of self-discovery through relationships, navigating through different stages of love, infatuation, and loss, ultimately weaving together a cohesive narrative arc of personal growth and reflection. The album consists of recently released single “GINA”, which earned praise from Complex and landed placements on Spotify’s Fresh Finds R&B and This Is Frequency, as well as Apple Music’s New In Alternative and The New Chicago playlists, as well as “MAD HONEY”. It is made complete with 5 new tracks, “POINT NEMO”, “HIGH BEAMS”, focus track “OH DEER (DAMN, LOVE REALLY)”, “CINDY’S SHOE” and “EASY TO MISS YOU.”

In addition to his solo work, collaborations with notable artists such as Smino, Noname, Saba, Mick Jenkins, and Chance the Rapper (which earned theMIND the prestigious title of two-time Grammy-Award winner) have played a vital role in uncovering the distinctive voice of theMIND and amassing his devoted fanbase. From the likes of the Chicago Reader, The Tribe, Pitchfork, and VIBE, theMIND returns with a fresh sound that offers potent musical experiences, solidifying his position as an artist poised for a commanding 2024.

Back with more heat, rapidly rising Kansas City hip-hop disruptor SleazyWorld Go serves up a brand new single and music video entitled “Who The Who’s” out now via Island Records. Listen HERE. Watch the video HERE. It bulldozes the way for the arrival of his anxiously awaited debut album, More Than A Shooter, executive produced by the RIAA Diamond-certified powerhouse, Turbo. Pre-order/Pre-save HERE.

On the track, an ominous string loop and tense hi-hats echo the tension of his experience growing up in Kansas City. SleazyWorld Go’s airtight flow practically chokes the production as he recounts vivid anecdotes from the trenches creating a head-bopping street anthem. Each intense bar culminates in a sinisterly chantable chorus, “The opps know they the who’s.” The accompanying visual brings these tales to life on-screen, pulling audiences deeper into his uncompromising vision.

Igniting 2024, he notably kickstarted this sonic era with “WTW.” Beyond looks from HITS Daily DoubleXXL, and more, HotNewHipHop proclaimed, “If this what the tape is going to sound like, we are all ears.” Meanwhile, he spent the spring on the road, opening up Offset’s “Set It Off” Tour.

It all paves the way for SleazyWorld Go to deliver his biggest and boldest statement to date with his debut album, More Than A Shooter this fall.

Breakout rapper SleazyWorld Go has earned a series of accolades. Last year, he was selected as a 2023 XXL Freshman; the first artist to represent both Kansas City, MO, and Grand Rapids, MI, on the prestigious magazine cover. Since then, he made an appearance at the 2023 BET Awards, released the anthemic “Don’t Get Your Feelings In It” featuring fellow XXL Freshman Luh Tyler, and has been in the studio working on his forthcoming debut album.

SleazyWorld Go’s hot streak began in 2019, following a personal transformation behind bars. The artist whose mom moved his family from Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Kansas City, Missouri, searching for a better life, wanted to move in a positive direction. Music was his method. In 2022 he took off, with “Sleazy Flow” introducing him to the masses (the song is 2x RIAA Certified Platinum), and leading to a remix featuring Lil Baby and a debut mixtape Where The Shooters Be that featured hip hop heavyweights Lil Baby, Offset, G Herbo, and more. In 2023, he expanded on WTSB with Where The Shooters Be 2dropped “Off The Court” featuring Polo G, was announced by Spotify as an Artist To Watch in 2023, and iHeartRadio announced him as nominee for Best New Hip Hop Artist. With raw talent and proven superstar potential, it’s clear that in 2024 and beyond SleazyWorld Go’s list of accolades will only continue to grow.

Source:AUGUST 08

A year ago, the culture lost critically acclaimed Los Angeles creative maverick August 08. Pretend It’s Okay illuminates the breadth of his vision as a multi-dimensional artist without comparison. It explores moments of stark emotion crystallized in his icy vocal delivery, only to climax with skyscraper-size anthems teeming with energy and tailor made for an eternal dance floor somewhere in the future. Among many highlights, the single “Ego Trip” instantly transfixes. Watch HERE.

About the project, August 08 left us with this sentiment, “Even though times get rough, we’re pretending it’s okay because we know that keeping a smile on our face keeps us from aging. Sometimes you have to put a smile on and keep dancing.”

Last year, he set the stage for Pretend It’s Okay with “Bruises.” Delicate yet powerful, the track emits the sort of catharsis found in begrudging acceptance, the type you find in the simple truth that it’s okay to not be. Watch the video HERE.

This weekend, his family, close friends, and collaborators have teamed up to not only herald the release, but to also commemorate his life. First up, today’s special listening party will debut the record in front of a hometown crowd. The event formally reveals the launch of the 501(c)3 organization Sonny Boy Foundationcreated by his mother Mena Jacobs, in his honor. For more information, visit his official site HERE.

In 2017, August’s musical instincts helped him write melodies for DJ Khaled’s “I’m the One,” a single assisted by Justin Bieber, Chance The Rapper, and Quavo that hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The following year, he began his own solo career in earnest with Father, an emotionally transparent journey that sees him untangling memories from a damaged childhood. He continued his development with 2019’s Happy Endings with an Asterisk and 2020’s Emotional Cuh, which use nuance and unfiltered thoughts to explore the dimensions of conditional happiness. His musical evolution persisted with his 2022 two-part album, SEASICKwhich generated millions of streams highlighted by “Water Sign” [with Jhené Aiko], “What We Used To Be” [feat. Joji], and “Cutlass” [feat. ScHoolboy Q].

23. Lexa Gates – Provider

Source:lexa gates

Today, Queens native, emerging rapper and singer, Lexa Gates releases “Provider” a heartfelt and relatable track that captures the relentless effort of working tirelessly to support one’s family. Her signature confident cadences weave seamlessly over evocative production, while self-assured lyricism and style sheds light on the often-overlooked struggle of an artist providing through their craft. “Provider” falls fresh on the heels of “I Just Can’t Be Alone,” an expressive exploration of the inner turmoil and contradictions faced in relationships. With soulful production by Billy Lemos (Omar Apollo, Still Woozy), jazzy melodies, and Lexa’s smooth, silky vocals, the track offers a raw and unfiltered glimpse into themes of love, self-identity, and the fear of loneliness. “I Just Can’t Be Alone” received support from Billboard who included it on their “R&B/Hip-Hop Fresh Picks of The Week,” The Face, who added it to their “Best New Tracks” column, and more. The accompanying video was directed, edited, and styled by Lexa herself. A beautifully crafted visual showcase that captures her effortless, ethereal presence. Watch HERE

Lexa is a refreshing contrast to the usual boldness of rap. She’s introspective and unapologetically honest, and offers a raw sound that captures the genuine essence of NYC. The 23-year-old Latinx artist quickly garnered a loyal fanbase by showcasing her ability to evoke a full range of passion in her music. Her journey began with her mother, who taught her music theory and composition. When she was 9 years old, her mother bought a keyboard and the two of them took vocal lessons, going on to play shows in cafes together until Gates dropped out of school at 15. She went through a tumultuous period before discovering she could record music at home, which then became her lifeline. Her 2022 album, Universe Wrapped in Flesh, and subsequent works showcase her evolving style and sobriety, reflecting her life experiences and growth.

On Valentine’s Day 2023, Gates released the exuberant “Angel.” A TikTok user shared the audio a few weeks later and it instantly gained traction on the platform. The song now has more than 1 million streams on Spotify. It also landed her an appearance on the renowned YouTube series, On The Radar. Following her appearance, she went on to perform at Great Escape Festival in the UK, as well as sell out shows in London, Brooklyn, and up next, The Echoplex in Los Angeles. Adding to the excitement, Lexa has an eagerly awaited album on the horizon, which promises to blend her signature style with fresh, innovative elements.  With this drive, focus, and talent comes a whole new world of possibility. Gates talks about her future with poetic optimism. “I just want to do things for my mom and my sister and show my mom that this stuff is possible and it’s not a dream,” she says. “If you can think about it, you can get it done.”

24. Toosii – Fuk You Mean

Source:Toosii

Today, Quadruple Platinum hitmaker Toosii shares his personal journey of heartbreak in his single ‘Fuk You Mean.’ The song, previously teased on social media, is a raw and unapologetic expression of his feelings. Released via South Coast Music Group/Capitol Records, Toosii’s lyrics resonate with anyone who has felt unappreciated in a relationship. He reveals how he gave everything he had to make his partner happy, only to feel underappreciated. His words paint a vivid picture of how a selfish partner can derail a once-promising relationship. ‘I bet the mall ain’t enough, bags ain’t enough, Paris ain’t enough, huh / I take you shopping, bought you all kinds of shit that made your friend wanna fuck,’ sings Toosii. ‘Fuk You Mean’ is the follow-up to Toosii’s single “Where You Been,” released in June.

When Toosii reached the one-year anniversary of his debut album NAUJOUR earlier this year, he achieved two impressive new milestones – the RIAA certified the album Gold and its smash single, “Favorite Song,” achieved 4x Platinum status. “Favorite Song” hit No. 1 at Rhythm & Urban radio and entered the top 5 of the Billboard Hot 100 after the arrival of remixes featuring Khalid and Future.

The track – which Toosii performed on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” “Good Morning America” and the Season 23 finale of “The Voice” – was nominated for an MTV VMA for Best R&B Song, a Billboard Music Award for Top Rap Song, and two Soul Train Awards (Song Of The Year and The Ashford And Simpson Songwriter’s Award).

His sold-out 2023 headline tour affirmed his status as one of hip-hop’s most in-demand live acts and he closed out the year playing arenas across the U.S. as one of the opening acts on Rod Wave’s Nostalgia Tour. Billboard said, “Toosii is coming for the crown.” HipHopDX observed, “A leader in the newest generation of artists fusing Hip Hop and R&B, Toosii continues to solidify his burgeoning potential.” Variety featured Toosii in its prestigious Power of Young Hollywood issue and told the remarkable story of how “Favorite Song” went from viral hit to chart smash in its Hitmakers issue.

Now, with “Fuk You Mean,” Toosii gives fans a tantalizing glimpse of where his artistry is taking him next.

25. Zedd ft. Remi Wolf – Lucky

The third official studio album from Zedd, the project showcases a more authentic side of the multi-platinum hitmaker, meant to be a ‘profound listening experience’ from start to finish.

30. Sun Room – Can’t Explain

Source:Sun Room

With full reckless abandon, Southern California trio Sun Room today releases their latest EP Can’t Explain via AWAL. Sonically sitting somewhere between Beatlemania, a Nuggets compilation, and modern surf-punk, the four-song offering sees Sun Room beginning to morph their sound. While holding onto elements of their signature 60s inspired charm, they also step into new genres informed by the bands they’ve spent the last three years on the road with — Stream.

Produced by Jarvis Taveniere (Allah-Las, The Avalanches), longtime collaborator Jonny Bell (The Gun Club, Chicano Batman) and LA super-duo SameSame (Beyoncé, Cage The Elephant), it’s a no brainer that new influences have seeped into the Sun Room psyche.

Opening up with the EP’s title track, the band takes more of a blues rock approach. Mellowing out their classic beachy harmonies while sprinkling in jazzier elements, this one is a creeper before lead singer Luke Asgian unleashes his scream. The most shoegaze-y, grunge sound we’ve heard from Sun Room yet, the droning second track “Bouquet” feels like a medicinally distorted haze.

Traveling from their home of the beach quite literally to the city for “Get Me Outta New York City,” Sun Room dials things up just to spite anyone who has pigeonholed them to one specific regional sound.  And closing the EP with the reverse of a love song, “Hate It When You Call” is cheeky and instantly a feel-good listen. The band shared that they created this one with the intention of making people dance and mosh. Their goal is for dance clubs to have more rock options to add to their rotation, knowing it will still keep bodies moving. Watch the official video here. No matter which genres Sun Room chooses to toy around with, it’s a given that they feel like they’re from a different time altogether.

“This EP is the most excited we’ve been for a release,” shares Asgian. “It’s kind of the first time we didn’t worry about having to write within a certain sub-genre. We just got in the garage and tried to make the best rock and roll songs we could. Touring the past few years with so many cool acts from the UK, Ireland and Australia opened our eyes to a bunch of bands and sounds we were unfamiliar with growing up in Southern California. They introduced us to all the bands they grew up with and influenced them and kind of re-inspired us all over again to be playing in a rock and roll band.”

He continues, “I think there’s also something special about the fact that all these songs were formed in a hot garage — so much music these days just feels so processed and formulaic, like people are making it for TikTok or something. I think jamming the songs out in a garage setting and testing all of these songs live on the road gives us a different perspective than a lot of artists these days. We’re not trying to have a viral moment, we’re trying to write good rock and roll songs.”

Throughout September and October, Sun Room will join indie-pop mainstay Dayglow for his North American tour. Kicking off in Mexico City, the tour will then make its way to major markets like Nashville, Toronto, New York City for two nights, and much more. Along the way, Sun Room will play a handful of headline shows of their own. See all upcoming dates here

Earlier this week, Sun Room and surf apparel brand Katin unveiled the band’s exclusive capsule collection. Having a hand in the design and curation of the clothing line, this collaboration is further proof of Sun Room’s integral role in modern SoCal culture. Shop the collection here.

After releasing their EP At Least I Tried at the end of 2023, the band jetted off to Australia for the first time, where they spent a month headlining across the continent and playing summertime festivals. Last year’s EP was praised by AltPress, Paste, Consequence, and even punk legend Iggy Pop on his BBC6 radio show. Now with Can’t Explain out in the world, Sun Room is preparing for the release of their debut album next year and, of course, a lot more touring.

31. Never Ending Fall – American Disco

Source:Never Ending Fall

Making something nostalgic feel brand new, indie-rock band Never Ending Fall today releases their new record American Disco via Create Music Group. A stark genre pivot from their 2020 debut album Space City, the new music feels almost like a different band altogether. But in reality, it’s a group of best friends since a fated 4th grade talent show performance. They cite hearing Turnstile’s GLOW ON as one of the major moments of inspiration for the kind of energy they want to bring to their own music. The last 5 years have transformed a once hesitant band into one their former selves would be proud of with this release — Stream.

Lifelong friends and bandmates, the Maryland natives made the move to Los Angeles a few years ago to take a serious stab at their music careers. In a strange twist of events, the thing that put them on the map was their hit TikTok series ‘Can it Kirkland’  where they compare name brand liquor and Costco’s Kirkland Signature brand. After becoming beloved figures of the internet, a whole new audience was tuned into their music.

Spending time on the road this last year with Quarters of Change and Sawyer Hill, the concept of writing for the live show experience became a no brainer for NEF. American Disco was recorded in the band’s LA home with Adam Schoeller (WILLOW, lovelytheband, DE’WAYNE) and allowed for the guys to evolve their production chops. American Disco acknowledges the US as a cultural epicenter, one where an artist has the privilege to be influenced by countless sources.

Never Ending Fall shares that, “‘American Disco’ is more than just a new album for us; it establishes a brand new chapter for our sound and image. The album reflects upon heartbreak, new love, old love, the trials and tribulations of life through an indie rock and borderline punk sound. We take pride in our ability to convey all our different inspirations while remaining unique and individual.”

Kicking off the album with today’s focus track “Every Single Day,” NEF doesn’t beat around the bush with the throttle.

“‘Every Single Day’ was written later on in our album recording process,” the band explains. “Despite its late arrival to the record, it’s one of our and our fans’ favorites. The song gives hints of mid-2000s rock with powerfully dynamic guitars and drums. Jack sings about the realization of a broken relationship between two polar opposite people. It is one of, if not the most, energetic songs we play live as well. We consider our live set to be just as impactful as the recorded album, so it makes total sense for ‘Every Single Day’ to be the focus track on this record.”

Then we move into the album’s title track, surprisingly one of the last tracks written for the record. “American Disco” and many other songs emerged from spontaneous bursts of creative inspiration. As a unit, NEF believes in riding out a thought until it feels just right. Heavily involved with their active Twitch community, they were able to run ideas by fans and allow that to shape the final tracklist of the record.

Wrapping up last week, Never Ending Fall spent the last month out on the road supporting Sawyer Hill. They streamed each concert on their Twitch channel, allowing for people across the world to feel like a part of the show. In total, the group has collectively played over 1,000 shows, but the last couple years have been a game changer in the scope of their ever-expanding fanbase. Their genuine wantingness to connect with people, previous support for Quarters of Change, and growing musical fingerprint, bring out passionate fans across the globe.

Over the last few months, NEF was included in Spotify’s Fresh Finds Rock and featured as HITS Daily Double’s New & Developing artist to watch. Ahead of their album release, they received early praise from The Boston Globe and Atwood Magazine.

32. Olivia King & Dondria – Blue (Remix)

Source:Olivia King

Rising Pop-R&B sensation Olivia King releases her highly anticipated single, “Blue Remix,” featuring the soulful Dondria, available now on all streaming platforms. Download / Stream here

The track marks the first release from Olivia’s forthcoming project, THIS IS THE REMIX Pt. 2, building on the success of her previous remix project, which took the digital world by storm in 2022. The original version captivated audiences as an open verse challenge with Gabriel Florez’s infectious guitar loop, amassing over 6 million views. Now fully realized, the Blue Remix promises to elevate the listener’s experience with Dondria’s influential vocal contributions.

Now enlisting the vocal prowess of Dondria, known for her early YouTube fame and hit single You’re The One, the Blue Remix brings a fresh, emotionally rich perspective on love and loss. Dondria’s involvement infuses the track with a nostalgic yet contemporary feel, making it a standout addition to Olivia’s discography.

Collaborating with a team of talented creatives, including co-writer Tiana Musarra and producer Gabriel Florez, Olivia co-wrote and co-produced the record, ensuring her authentic touch is felt throughout. Reflecting on the collaboration Olivia expressed, I’m honored to work with Dondria on this remix.

With its release, Blue Remix is set to become another viral sensation. It will showcase Olivia King’s evolving artistry and the powerful synergy between her and Dondria.

33. Ray Vaughn – Ray Wop

Source:Ray Vaughn

Today, Top Dawg Entertainment’s MC to watch, Ray Vaughn, follows up his July release of “Supposed to Die “with the lyrically nimble “Ray Wop.” Recorded at TDE Studios in LA, the record is produced by Wallis Lane  (Chris Brown, PARTYNEXTDOOR) and TAKA (Denzel Curry, Cashmere Cat).  You can listen to the wordsmith’s new single “Ray Wop” via TDE HERE: https://rayvaughn.lnk.to/raywop

The new single reverberates a bold west coast swag, with effortless delivery from Vaughn.  Its catchy hook, “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop!” emits a bold west coast pilfery of a once east-coast owned anthem.

The kinetic and melodic release is accompanied by an official video, directed by Carlos Acosta and Gerald Hatch. The visual finds Ray commanding the vibe at his LA BBQ, complete with water guns, fresh J’s and more, while he lays out his pen:

“I’m a dark-skin, poster child, screensaver, wheat chaser

Think you burnt out? I’m the cremator.”

Ray has been on a heat streak since his Pusha T-assisted February palette cleanser, “Problems,” with recent tracks, from “Blasphemy,“ to “Supposed to Die” to “Black Jesus.” With each release, Vaughn further expands and highlights his versatility, his piercing pen for building a hook across immersive hard-hitting productions, and a true understanding of whom he’s speaking to with each bar. “Ray Wop” clocks in as the latest entry in Ray’s swaggering 2024 run, with a heavy beat that would ring off in any club or car, the track is destined to give the summer an extended stay.

Earlier this year he performed on Isaiah Rashad’s 10-year anniversary tour for Cilvia Demo. and throughout dropped a continuous onslaught of lyricism and content through his channels, revving his audiences up for each official release.

Stay tuned for more from Ray Vaughn coming soon!

34. Kodak Black – Hit Stick

Source:Kodak Black

Today, multi-platinum rapper Kodak Black unveils a hard-hitting and hypnotic new single and music video entitled “Hit Stick.” Listen HERE via Vulture Love / Capitol Records.

A cinematic string sample swoons in and out of focus over the track’s tense beat and loose bass line, setting the tone. Off the rip, Kodak’s signature delivery instantly transfixes as his woozy flow practically snakes through the production. His charisma, cleverness, paranoia, emotion, and energy charge up “Hit Stick,” giving it a fascinating element of complexity and affirming him as the culture’s most enigmatic presence once again.

He kickstarted the summer with his record label Vulture Love’s first official project, Vulture Love Presents: The Last Zombies On Earth. Beyond generating millions of streams, it received tastemaker acclaim. XXL & The Source plugged it, and HotNewHipHop praised, “where this debut album succeeds is giving these up-and-coming artists a great platform to make their voices hard.” He then later followed up the compilation with a sold-out show at LA’s NOVO.

Alongside Kodak, the label compilation boasts contributions from VVSNCE, Lil Crix, G6reddot, GorditoFlo, Big Fredo, Jay Dirty, Taji Akeil, Project Pooh, NFL Tuewop, Jit4 Stan, Yung Mula, and JME Tmoe. Production credits include SkipOnDaBeat, ATL Jacob, Xairr, Dr. Zuez, Ayo B, and more. In short, the talent on display on Vulture Love Presents: The Last Zombies On Earth is nothing short of show-stopping. Listen HERE.

Vulture Love Presents: The Last Zombies On Earth arrived on the heels of Kodak’s recent introspective singles “Dis Time,” “Stressed Out,” and “Non Believer.” It was preceded by “Shampoo,” a confident burst of street rap that typifies the style that made him a superstar. Of course, that song followed When I Was Dead, an engrossing album in which Kodak explores both his nightmares and blood-stained aspirations. Featuring the smash hit “Lemme See,” the project only reaffirmed Kodak’s status as one of the most gifted artists of his generation.

Kodak’s status transcends the rap world. Over the years, he has cultivated the role of a prophetic storyteller in the culture at large, and his reach continues to grow. He holds over 25 billion global streams to his name and continues altruism towards his Pompano Beach community.

On the title track, “CRYBABY,” she faces the mirror, confessing the song’s subject is mostly herself: “I’m just playing with anything that makes me really emotional, whether it’s my relationships, my job, my personal journey.”
The CRYBABY album also features one of Khalil’s most talked-about tracks, “Is It Worth It.” The fan-favorite song has amassed over 1.2 million Spotify streams and counting, alongside earning praise from top-tier tastemakers with looks from BillboardVarietyESSENCE Girls United, and more. CRYBABY follows the June-released single “SHE’S A BORE,” which has been touted as a song that “flaunts her impressive range and storytelling across the verses” from YouKnowIGotSoul. It’s also Khalil’s first official release on Anderson .Paak’s APESHIT label.

The Southern California born-and-raised artist has been on a speedy ascension since her notable appearance on Netflix’s Rhythm + Flow in 2019. She followed that up with 2020’s FORTHEWORLD LP. Then, Khalil received her first Grammy win for her songwriting and background vocal contributions to “Lockdown” by Anderson .Paak. The song won Best Melodic Rap Performance at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards in 2021.
As she continues to level up with each release, Khalil refuses to be boxed in and doesn’t shy away from pushing the boundaries of new age R&B.

36. Jimmy Cliff & Walshy Fire – The Harder They Come: The Remixes

Source:Jimmy Cliff

In the wake of Jamaican Independence Day on August 6, powerhouse Jamaican American DJ Walshy Fire [Major Lazer] honors one of the most important reggae artists of all-time, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame® inductee, and GRAMMY® Award-winning icon Jimmy Cliff with The Harder They Come: The Remixes (Digital Album) out now via UMe/Island. The four-track collection just landed at all DSPs, and it arrives less than ten days after Jimmy’s 80th birthday on July 30th! Listen HERE.

With this release, Walshy Fire seamlessly bridges two eras, styles, and sensibilities. Walshy expands the scope of the epic signature single and title track “The Harder They Come,” infusing it with fresh fire and a modern bounce. On the other end of the spectrum, he amplifies the soulful exhale of “Many Rivers To Cross,” respecting its pensive prayer in the process. He also brings upbeat flavor to “You Can Get It If You Really Want,” and he caps off the project by underlining “Sitting In Limbo with a distinct groove and pulsating keyboard loop.

Just two years ago, Jimmy Cliff unveiled The Harder They Come 50th Anniversary Edition Vinyl. In 1972, the film The Harder They Come arrived and eventually emerged as a cult classic with Cliff in the starring role. The accompanying The Harder They Come Soundtrack brought an international spotlight to reggae music. 2021 saw the Library of Congress choose it for preservation in the National Recording Registry, deeming it “culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant.” The record essentially put reggae on the map. Rolling Stone touted The Harder They Come Soundtrack on its coveted “500 Greatest Albums of All Time.” Not to mention, 2022 also saw Jimmy drop his first album in over a decade, Refugees [UMe], to critical acclaim from ForbesFLAUNTThe Guardian, and The Independent.

37. Leah Mason – HEXED

Source:Leah Mason

Rising pop singer and songwriter Leah Mason presents her highly-anticipated debut album, HEXED, out on all streaming platforms today. The album arrives alongside the music video for the title track, “HEXED.”

Labeled as an “undeniable talent” by People Magazine on the heels of her debut EP, Honeydew & Hennessy, Leah quickly emerged as one of Nashville’s most exciting young stars. Always eager push the boundaries of her sound, she broke away from the familiar last year and ventured to Sweden to work with producer Simon Jonasson on her debut album, HEXED. After two and a half weeks, Leah emerged from the studio with a collection of meticulously crafted pop tracks that showcase her artistic breadth. HEXED is proof positive that Leah has found her place in pop, and she’s here to stay.

HEXED is without a doubt Leah’s most confident, raw and real project to date. Just like any 24-year-old, Leah has spent the past few years navigating the tender passage from adolescence to adulthood. It’s a time wrought with heavy emotions, big life decisions, first loves and heartbreaks, transitional friendships, and figuring out who you really are. Across the album’s 13 tracks, she takes the intensity of young adulthood and bottles it up into a selection of universally relatable songs, ranging from tongue-in-cheek, angst-driven anthems to heartfelt musings on love and loss.

I’ve never felt such deep heartbreak, anger, resentment, betrayal, or frustration than I have in the past year, but I’ve also never loved as deeply, felt as confident, or been as outspoken,” says Leah. “It was so fun to create music that made me feel so creatively fulfilledIt was like nothing I had ever experienced before. I hope my album helps others feel seen, and I hope that it helps people understand me as well.”

38. Ryuichi Sakamoto – Opus

Source:Ryuichi Sakamoto

Today, the late legendary composer Ryuichi Sakamoto’s highly anticipated posthumous album Opus, a collection of works performed as a final concert in the fall of 2022 before Sakamoto’s death in early 2023, is released via Milan Records. Listen Here.

Alongside the release of Opus is a video of Sakamoto performing “for Jóhann,” one of the newly composed pieces on the album. It is a tribute to Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannson, one of Sakamoto’s close friends and colleagues, who passed away in 2018. Watch Here.

In late 2022, the Japanese composer, producer, and artist Ryuichi Sakamoto sat down at the piano for a final performance. Too ill to complete an entire set at once, Opus is garnered from multiple sessions shot and recorded in Tokyo’s legendary NHK 509 Studio. The concert was filmed and recorded without an audience, directed by Sakamoto’s son Neo Sora and turned into a film Ryuichi Sakamoto | Opus, now available on The Criterion Channel.

Opus was carefully curated by Sakamoto, with selections including his iconic film scores, Yellow Magic Orchestra classics, alongside pieces reflective of his eclectic career. “Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence,” perhaps one of his most famous melodies, and beloved works “Andata,” “Aqua” and “Trioon” are represented as well as entirely new or never-before-recorded compositions.  “for Jóhann”, dedicated to the late composer and Sakamoto’s friend Jóhann Jóhannsson, “BB,” a tribute to filmmaker Bernardo Bertolucci, and “20180219 (w/prepared piano),” a previously unreleased solo prepared-piano track, are all new to Sakamoto’s vast repertoire.

Sakamoto provided a statement on the project after it was recorded, saying:

The project was conceived as a way to record my performances—while I was still able to perform—in a way that is worth preserving for the future.  In some sense, while thinking of this as my last opportunity to perform, I also felt that I was able to break new ground. Simply playing a few songs a day with a lot of concentration was all I could muster at this point in my life. Perhaps due to the exertion, I felt utterly hollow afterwards, and my condition worsened for about a month. Even so, I feel relieved that I was able to record before my death—a performance that I was satisfied with.

Ryuichi Sakamoto was a musician of incredible breadth and ambition, whose work spanned genres, forms, and ideas. Much of his music followed a similar transformation—often, Sakamoto would take his works and morph them, from their original shape as pop songs or film scores, and translate them for orchestras or for solo piano or for large museum installations. He was like an alchemist altering the states of an element, granting each piece many lives. It is perhaps the best illustration of the strength of Sakamoto’s songwriting that a composition could change many times, sturdy yet mutable, that he could deconstruct and remake his own work over and over.

These chosen works tell the story of not only a prolific musician, but a tirelessly curious artist. It is a reflection of Sakamoto’s own life and work as he faces death, on his own terms. On this album, the performer is dying, but through the performance, he lives forever.

39. Bert McCracken – The Feels

Source:robbietheused

Today, The Used’s frontman Bert McCracken has released a new single under his solo project, robbietheused, titled “The Feels.” With its electro-pop vibes and uplifting lyrics, “The Feels” is the ultimate feel-good anthem of the summer. Its exhilarating, addictive beat coupled with encouraging lyrics serve as a reminder that there is always time to pause and enjoy the present moment.

Listen to “The Feels” here: https://ffm.to/thefeels

“This song was inspired by my on-going battle with mental health and is about learning to lean into love and acceptance. It was written in 2022 with John Feldmann and I’m so happy to finally share it with you. peace and love <3>

Best known for fronting the iconic rock band The Used for over two decades, robbietheused has always been inspired by pop music and is elated to share his passion with fans.

“I was inspired by all generations of pop—I love ’80s pop, ’90s pop and early-2000s pop,” he says, “I love today’s pop as well,” shares robbietheused.

Following his first single, “Just a Little Bit,” the track showcases the familiar angst of robbietheused’s lyrics overlaid with a hesitant hope for brighter days, wrapped up in a synth-tinged pop groove that makes it impossible to stand still while listening. Stream “Just A Little Bit” now at https://bignoise.ffm.to/jalb

In general, robbietheused always finds solace in writing and recording new music because this creativity has a positive impact on his mental health. Having these songs were particularly vital, as he started writing during the COVID-19 pandemic when he was unable to travel from his home in Australia.

Producer John Feldmann came onboard to work on robbietheused material.  Given that the two men have known (and collaborated with) each other for decades, it wasn’t a stretch for them to focus on pop-oriented songs. In fact, this camaraderie led to adventurous sound explorations, such as incorporating heavy bass undertones and effects and vocoders.

“John Feldmann is a wizard,” robbietheused says. “He can make anything and he’s so easy to work with. He’s the hardest working man I know in the music industry. There’s no drama recording with him.  It was a smooth process—just like making a Used record.”

The pair holed up in the studio for intense, week-long studio sessions; among other things, they recorded one song every day, without fail. This approach to the recording process was quite meaningful, in no small part because it doubled as a daily mental health tune-up.

“In the morning, we’d talk about how we’re feeling and what’s on our minds on that day,” he explains. “And ask, ‘How’s the mental health? How’s the vibes?’ And then we’d formulate a song around that. It was almost like a therapy session, where I’d really get to talk about anything that’s on my mind, and then make a song about it.”

With a full album and even potentially live dates coming in the future, robbietheused has proven to be an invaluable gift—in more ways than one.

“Any feeling is valid—and to be able to put it to song is incredible,” robbietheused says. “And there’s so much room in this world for positivity. I want this music to show that there’s room for love. There’s room for growth. There’s room for redemption. There’s room for sweet, loving revenge. There’s so many good people—and so many good things happening.”

With The FORCE, LL returns to the music scene to show fans that an artist of his status can continue to achieve greatness so many years later.

Igniting Memphis with his streetwise raps and drawling flow, Jay Fizzle never fails to keep it real. Today, he shares the video for “Bottom Boy Survivor” ft. JpOnThaTrack, a highlight from last month’s Who Is Grizzape. Over cinematic production from Billboard charting producer JpOnThaTrack, Fizzle unleashes raw street stories, reflecting on how far he’s come and the lessons he’s learned along the way: “Cut off some n****s ‘cuz n****s start showin’ me fake love / Jump off the porch, yeah I been on the Paper Route.” In the video, directed by Wolfe Productions, Fizzle and his crew visit Memphis’ Westwood neighborhood, where he stunts in front of a mural depicting his mentor Young Dolph.

Who Is Grizzape is a feast of no-holds-barred Memphis music, establishing Jay Fizzle as one of the finest spittas in his city. Project highlight “Front And Back Pocket” features a slowed sample of Young Dolph, from the 2015 song “Boyz In The Hood,” and guest spots from PRE cohorts Big Moochie Grape and Kenny Muney, while he expertly plays the lothario in the Ayoza-produced “Mr. Freaky Man.” Fizzle welcomes collaborators like his PRE compadre Key Glock, who joins him on “No Mo,” which also includes a posthumous verse from Big Scarr, and Memphis diva Kashh Mir hops on “Opp B*tch.”

47. Jae Stephens – Body Favors

Source:jae stephens

As this weekend kicks off, it’s time to do your body a favor and listen to some new Jae Stephens. She’s deep in her Y2K popstar bag on her bubbly new single “Body Favors.” Tapping into the house music sound, the bouncy track is complete with provocative innuendos and a propulsive, rubbery bassline that should be played at max volume on speakers, in headphones, and in the club. Jae talks her sh*t above the perfect mix of bass and buzzy synths and serves up fast-paced rhymes in a ballroom house style before engaging in a flirty, ping-ponging call-and-response, lowkey reminiscent of the heyday of the Neptunes era. So glad this song is finally out after she teased it in 2022 to tens of thousands of anticipating fans!

“This was the song that clicked for me sonically and thematically,” says Jae Stephens. “I was listening to it over and over in my car and was like ‘why don’t I make stuff like this more often?’ I realized that this is my sound, and everything before this was just trying to figure this out.”

Along with the new single, she announces her upcoming EP SELLOUT dropping Friday, September 6th via Raedio/Def Jam! The new EP is a vibrant collection of pop and R&B heaters, as Jae flexes her versatility with all strains of her favorite genres. Her recent video singles “WET” and the Chxrry22 co-written “Girls Don’t Cheat” (my personal fave on the EP) find her ranging from futuristic, house-inspired bops to 90s/2000s R&B-inspired vibes, always giving confident, flirty, and fun. You can catch her performing songs from her EP at the upcoming “On The Raedio Live” shows – tickets HERE.

49. Lily McKenzie – Pressure

Source:lily mckenzie

After building anticipation worldwide, U.K. singer, producer, and DJ Lily McKenzie unveils her anxiously awaited debut Pressure EP out now via Major Recordings/Warner Records.

Listen HERE.

The five-track body of work affirms her as both a dynamic presence and a buzzing triple threat without comparison. Among many highlights, lead single “When It Comes To Love” takes flight as a bona fide dancefloor anthem. Synths flicker and beats skitter as the energy overflows during the drop. Her intimate verses give rise to a hypnotic hook where she asks, “Tell me when it comes to love, will you be the one.” Then, there’s “Satellite.” Keys twinkle across the upbeat bass-powered groove, and her celestial chorus takes hold, “Be my satellite, I’ve been trying to find—a signal in the night.” Meanwhile, “Middle” spotlights her powerful range. On the track, the soft piano intro dissolves into a sparse bass hum. Leaning into a soulful cadence, she wonders, “Will you meet me in the middle again? Will you catch me when I’m losing my breath?”

From club-ready bangers to introspective moments of raw emotion, Pressure showcases multiple sides of her artistry all at once. Check out the full tracklisting below.

Just last night, she heralded the EP’s arrival with an exclusive release party in London on the rooftop of Tola. The line-up boasted everyone from Jess Bays and Crazy Cousinz to DJ Amika Ezer and more.

Earlier this summer, the single “Careless” preceded Pressure. Right out of the gate, Global Grind highlighted it on “This Week’s New Music Roundup.” Plus, she first teased the EP with the title track “Pressure.” The latter has continued to gain traction on streaming platforms in addition to landing on playlists such as Spotify’s “New Dance Revolution” and “The Loft” and gained notable nods from Capital Dance, BBC Radio1 Future Show, and BBC Radio1 First Play Friday with Sarah Story.

This summer Lily ignited the stage at Glastonbury not once, but twice. She accompanied Eats Everything for a performance and handled DJ duties for UK dance icon Katy B. Perhaps most impressively, she did all of this while pregnant, proudly embracing impending motherhood with passion, poise, and power.

50. YDE – Defense of Love

Source:YDE

Kicking off another luminous creative era, pop music’s triple threat (singer/songwriter, producer, actress) YDE (pronounced EE-dee) serves up a brand new single entitled “Defense of Love.” Listen to the track—co-written by Justin Tranter (Chappell Roan, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez) and Mattman & Robin (Charli XCX, Imagine Dragons, RAYE) and produced by YDE—HERE via Facet Records/Warner Records. It heralds her upcoming 8 EP arriving later this summer.

“‘Defense Of Love’ is about letting go and returning to the purity of love. I know the lengths I’m willing to go to defend love. But as I’ve learned, it’s easy to lose touch with what love truly is. We get clouded by ideas about love, that we forget the true essence of love itself. Co-writing this song with Justin Tranter, Mattman and Robin reminded me that love transcends an ideal, a relationship, a song, a heartbreak. Love is interwoven in our DNA. Love keeps us alive. This song is about choosing love. Whatever that means for you,” says YDE.

Ethereal synths and softly strummed acoustic guitar murmur beneath her dynamic vocals on the track. Mirroring the mixed emotions of a breakup, she flexes her range, stretching from otherworldly verses to heavenly heights on the hook. She comes to a relatable realization on the chantable chorus, “I did it in defense of love.”

It follows the fan favorite “Free Fall.” Right out of the gate, UPROXX touted it among “All The Best New Pop Music From This Week,” going on to applaud how “YDE’s breathy vocals convey her desperate feelings toward someone who doesn’t deserve it.”

YDE’s SEND HELP EP originally arrived in 2022 and has earned widespread critical acclaim. NYLON applauded “the project’s inquisitive and emotional world,” and Flaunt proclaimed, “With soft and subtle transitions between each track, the artist carefully weaves together a story of love, life, and

identity.” Billboard hailed the single “People Can Change” as “touching.”

Meanwhile, OnesToWatch attested, “wow did those skills come to fruition in SEND HELP, a saucy affair that is equal parts riveting, subtle, and complex.”

The rising artist first made waves with October 2020’s “Stopped Buying Diamonds,” co-written with mentor  and Facet Records founder Justin Tranter, a tongue-in-cheek recognition that Gen Z is  disastrous in the eyes of older generations.

51. Jenna Raine – Roses

Source:Jenna Raine

Leveling up once more, rising pop artist Jenna Raine shares an upbeat and empowering new single entitled “Roses.” Listen HERE via Warner Records and watch the lyric video HERE.

A wistful harmony sets the tone for the track. In between softly sustained acoustic guitar chords, she urges, “Don’t go killing all my roses, ‘cause I’ve only started growing.” Handclaps and breezy strumming pick up the pace as a captivating chorus takes hold. During the bridge, she leans into her power with a confident and charismatic chant, “I dig my roots into the ground. No you won’t ever cut me down!”

“Roses” lands in the wake of Raine’s recent fan-favorite track “Hypothetically.” Released earlier this summer, the song was preceded by “Lovesick” and “Big Dumb Heart.” They followed the release of 2023’s Big Dumb Heart, Chapter 2 EP, including the viral hit “It Is What It Is.” The track exploded on TikTok, garnering over 5 million views on her video that inspired its own dance trend and spawned over 40 thousand creates on the platform. Earlier in 2023, Raine kicked off her EP series with Big Dumb Heart, Chapter 1, which boasts the infectious anthems “Stupid Cupid” and “Crickets.” In 2021, she became an online sensation with the defiantly hopeful “see you later (ten years),” which went on to amass over 100 million streams.

These breakout moments earned Raine a performance at the 2023 MTV VMAs Block Party, garnered buzz from Rolling Stone, Billboard, and V Magazine, and landed her on the cover of Girls’ Life Magazine.

52. SAINt JHN – Circles

Source:SAINt JHN

Today, Grammy award-winning musician SAINt JHN announced the release of his new single, “Circles,” which is available to stream on all platforms HERE.

In the new alternative pop single “Circles,” Jhn pours his heart out as he paints the emotional picture of a love so intoxicating to the point of insanity expressing “I been really tryna hurt myself for you.” With his melodic vocals, he dives even deeper to expose the mental turmoil he feels as a result of this love with lyrics like “life’s been a loop, with me and you, the worst part of this scene, I’m broken too, impossible”.

“Circles” comes after JHN released Afrofusion single, “Humble” last week, which he reflects on his humble beginnings and overcoming adversity on his journey to success. With JHN’s recent music releases he continues to build new momentum, since he teamed up with Victony on “Tiny Apartment” that was released in June. Around this time last summer, JHN also continued to showcase his versatility, collaborating with Michaël Brun, Charly Black and J Perry on “Jessica.”

The last time JHN unveiled a solo music release was Feb. 2023, when he dropped songs like “Overstimulated” and “You Laughed At Me.” Prior to that, JHN teamed up with chart-topping producer London On Da Track for the high-octane single “Stadiums” in Dec. 2022.

His acclaimed third studio album, “While the World Was Burning,” included star-studded features from Lil Uzi Vert, Future, A Boogie with da Hoodie, Kehlani, 6Lack and more. The remix to “Roses” became a global sensation, as the song reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100.

JHN also showcased his star-power alongside Beyoncé and Wizkid for the 2019 anthem “BROWN SKIN GIRL” that appeared on The Lion King soundtrack.

53. Ambré – i do this sh*t in my sleep

Source:AMBRE

Today, Grammy award-winning R&B singer-songwriter, musician and producer Ambré announced the release of her new mixtape “i do this sh*t in my sleep,” which is available to stream on all platforms HERE.

The six-track mixtape serves as a soundtrack to being vulnerable and authentic with features from Grammy-nominated singer Alex Isley and fellow hometown artist Treety. “i do this sh*t in my sleep” takes listeners on a playful journey of cat and mouse and sensual love-making with tracks, “SWV,” “Sideways” and “Perfect Timing.” Although, it has the bones of an EP with a solid storyline from start to finish, Ambré insists that it is only a sneak peek into something bigger, something timeless.

“This is not an album… I didn’t spend months working on these songs. These are a collection of demos,” Ambré said. “But if you like them then you’ll love what’s to come… because I’m working on the greatest album of all time.”

“i do this sh*t in my sleep” comes on the heels of her soulful cover of Robin Thicke’s “Lost Without U.” The cover came after the Roc Nation artist released her project, who’s loving you?, which features production from Jay Versace on “BAD HABITS” and a feature from Mack Keane on “ELEVATE.”

“who’s loving you?” served as an extension of her 2022 project “3000°” which served as homage to classic projects from two New Orleans legends, Juvenile’s “400 Degreez” and Lil Wayne’s “500 Degreez.” The Grammy® Award-winning songwriter garnered her first Billboard No. 1 on the Adult R&B Airplay chart with her single “I’m Baby” featuring British singer/songwriter Jvck James off her project “3000°.”

Last year was a testament year for the New Orleanian native who performed a slew of psychedelic, soulful hit songs during her NPR: Tiny Desk performance. Earlier that year, she wrapped up her headlining tour The Wild Magnolia Tour which included sold out shows in Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto and more.

Originally discovered from Soundcloud following her first release in 2014, Ambré was signed to Roc Nation in 2019. Source:Durand Bernarr

The latest single from vocalist Durand Bernarr, “READY!,” is now available on all major streaming platforms. Released in collaboration with the dynamic producer and songwriter duo Charlie Vettuno, this track offers a preview of their forthcoming EP.

The debut single showcases Durand’s mastery of soulful and empowering music, blending funk, soul, and electronic elements into a high-energy anthem.  He explains, “‘READY!’ is inspired by those moments when people assume they know what you want. It’s like, who told you I was ready to call it a night? It’s about making it clear: nobody knows what you’re ready for except you.” He continues, “When the track started, Robyn S. immediately came to mind. I heard a loud ass note in the beginning to start the song off in a dramatic way. ‘READY!’ sets the tone for the journey ahead, but trust me, I’m not ready to wrap things up just yet.”

“Working with Durand has been like working at home, there’s a comfort and familiarity there,” says Charlie Vettuno. “Sometimes you meet kindred spirits and the chemistry is off to the races. ‘READY!’ is a prime example of this; Durand instantly took to the track when we played it for him. We haven’t looked back since.”

Bernarr recently wrapped up the first leg of his “Rollin’ With the Homies Skate Experience,” a six-city skate tour that kicked off on July 6th in Dallas, TX, and concluded on August 1st in Chicago, IL. This tour brought together his distant cousins for a celebration of music and “vibes,” from Houston to Washington D.C., Brooklyn, and Atlanta.

Featuring singles like “Unknown” and “Fist Bump ft. Free Nationals,” En Route highlights his genre-bending vocal ability.

Durand Bernarr’s collaborations with artists like Kaytranada, Ballad, Adi Oasis, and Solomon Fox have solidified his reputation as a groundbreaking and versatile artist. His track “Weird,” a collaboration with Kaytranada, climbed to No. 47 on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, following the success of “Freefall” from Kaytranada’s Grammy-winning album Bubba.

Source:Quavo Huncho

Following the success of his recent Hot 100 hit “Tough” with Lana Del Rey, GRAMMY-nominated artist Quavo (Quality Control Music/Motown Records) is back with another impressive release, “FLY.” This single offers a fresh take on Lenny Kravitz’s iconic 1998 track, enhanced by Quavo’s distinctive style and melody. Quavo’s lyrics, “Flyest in the room, who Flyer than you? / Flyest in the room, you just past the moon?” are complemented by Kravitz’s newly recorded vocals, bringing an electrifying energy to the song.

The accompanying video, directed by Jake Nava, showcases Quavo and Kravitz as a dynamic duo, delivering a captivating performance. Their synergy is palpable, creating an electrifying atmosphere that translates through both the music and visuals. The song, which explores new musical territories for both artists, has been well-received by major outlets like Rolling Stone, Complex, and Billboard. Currently, “Tough” is holding strong at No. 61 on the Billboard Hot 100. Quavo also made headlines in Atlanta recently when he appeared alongside Vice President Harris at a rally, supporting her stance on gun control and endorsing her run for the presidency. Quavo’s new white cognac, White X, created in partnership with Sazerac, makes a cameo in the video upon the brand’s nationwide launch. Quavo’s latest foray into the spirits industry is just another step for him to become one of music’s preeminent entrepreneurs.
