This summer marked the one year anniversary of BLK Events LA, a platform that has quickly become a cornerstone for Black community engagement in Los Angeles. Founded by award-winning composer and multi-talented creative Jocelyn C. Chambers, BLK Events LA has grown into a vibrant resource for Black meetups, cultural events, and community-building opportunities. Read more about the viral event resource and platform inside.

In just one year, the platform has amassed over 20,000 Instagram followers and 18,000 on TikTok, signaling its rapid rise in popularity. Chambers has successfully positioned BLK Events LA as a trusted hub within LA’s Black community, forging partnerships with prominent organizations such as Issa Rae’s Hilltop Coffee + Kitchen, Childish Gambino’s Jellyman Tea, WalkGood LA, Black Owned Food LA, and Prosperity Market. These collaborations have solidified the platform’s reputation as an essential resource for both Black businesses and community-driven events.

Beyond her work with BLK Events LA, Chambers is an accomplished composer, having crafted music for high-profile projects, including the 2024 Doritos Super Bowl commercial “Dina & Mita.” Her creative talents have earned her recognition in the world of film, advertising, and classical music. Recently, Chambers completed a prestigious residency at Chateau Orquevaux in France, where she composed her debut album, supported by the Denis Diderot & Emerging Artist grants.

In addition to her artistic achievements, Chambers secured second place in the COLORFUL YoungGuns’ grant competition, further cementing her influence in art, business, and culture. BLK Events LA continues to expand its reach, with upcoming events including a collaboration with Noname the Rapper for a community walk and involvement with the Black Love Summit.

Chambers’ work with BLK Events LA reflects her deep commitment to storytelling, community-building, and the celebration of Black culture, making her and her platform vital voices in Los Angeles’ cultural landscape.
