Acclaimed entertainment company A24 surprised fans worldwide with the official trailer for their new thriller Opus. Continue reading to check out the chilling first look!
Opus follows Ariel Ecton (Ayo Edebiri), a young magazine writer who receives an exclusive invitation to a listening party at the secluded compound of Alfred Moretti (John Malkovich), a legendary pop star who vanished from the public eye 30 years prior. Upon arrival, she encounters a gathering of celebrities and journalists, all seemingly under Moretti’s influence. As Ariel delves deeper, she uncovers unsettling behaviors and cult-like dynamics among the attendees, leading her to question the true nature of Moretti’s intentions.
In addition to Edebiri (Big Mouth, The Bear, Bottoms) and Malkovich (Johnny English, Burn After Reading, Juno), the film also stars Juliette Lewis (Enough, Starsky & Hutch, Yellowjackets), Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus, Welcome to Chippendales, The Last of Us), Amber Midthunder (Legion, Reservation Dogs), Stephanie Suganami, Young Mazino (Beef), Tatanka Means and Tony Hale (Arrested Development, Veep).
Mark Anthony Green makes his directorial debut with the film that he also wrote. Collin Creighton, Brad Weston, Poppy Hanks, Jelani Johnson, and Josh Bachove all serve as producers on the project. Before Opus hits theaters everywhere on March 14th, the highly anticipated film will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in Salt Lake City this weekend (January 27th).
