After sharing some first look photos from the season a few weeks back, MGM+ decided to release the teaser trailer for the upcoming season of Godfather of Harlem. Continue reading to check it out and to find out when you can expect to watch Season 4!
Godfather of Harlem depicts the life of crime boss Bumpy Johnson (Forest Whitaker), who in the 1960s returned after a decade in prison to find his neighborhood in shambles and new powers rising. It is set against the backdrop of the civil rights movement and explores the collision of the criminal underworld and politics of the era. Season 4 follows Bumpy as he continues his bloody war for control of Harlem against New York’s Mafia families, while contending with the emergence of a potential rival in newly arrived Black gangster Frank Lucas. After Malcolm X’s (Jason Alan Carvell) tragic death, Bumpy must also grapple with his daughter Elise’s (Antoinette Crowe-Legacy) involvement with the Black Panthers.
In the teaser, we get out first look at Rome Flynn in action. Anticipation for the return of the series has been through the roof since the announcement that the heart throb would be taking on the role of a young Frank Lucas. Michael Benjamin Washington joins the cast as he plays renowned writer, social critic and activist, James Baldwin, known for his piercing insight into the complexities of race, identity, and human relationships. Additionally, Devin Kessler plays Afeni Shakur, Tupac Shakur’s mother. They join a cast that includes Ilfenesh Hadera, Lucy Fry, Antoinette Crowe-Legacy, Erik LaRay Harvey, Michael Raymond James, Elvis Nolasco, and Erik Palladino.
Legendary musician Swizz Beatz returns to the fan-favorite series as executive music producer. The series’ executive producers include show creators Chris Brancato and Paul Eckstein, Whitaker, Nina Yang Bongiovi, James Acheson, Markuann Smith, Ray Quinlan, Michael Panes, and Stephen Schiff.
