All this talk about love has us wondering where the romance lives. A new study has revealed which states are feeling the love the most. Check out the study inside and see where the romance is brewing most across the states.
According to research conducted by QR Code Generator, New York tops the list as the most romantic state in the U.S. With an average of 1,682 romance-related searches per 100,000 residents each month, the Big Apple is leading the loving charge.
The Most Romantic States
The study analyzed Google searches from January to December 2024 for 40 romance-related keywords, including “date ideas,” “engagement rings,” “Valentine’s Day,” and “florists near me.”
The top ten most romantic states based on monthly searches per 100,000 people are:
- New York – 1,682
- Massachusetts – 1,562
- New Jersey – 1,524
- Virginia – 1,463
- Maryland – 1,445
- Florida – 1,409
- Illinois – 1,406
- Georgia – 1,392
- North Carolina – 1,377
- California – 1,373
New York tops the list as the most romantic state, with over 329,000 romance-related searches each month. The top three most searched terms in the state include “engagement rings” (59,083 searches), “florists near me” (52,125 searches), and “Valentine’s Day” (48,925 searches). The research suggests that many New Yorkers may be planning romantic surprises, including engagements, for the holiday. No surprise here. We always feel our most liberated and in pure bliss when in the big city. It’s like no one else is really there when you’re smitten under all the lights.
Engagement Rings and Valentine’s Day Drive Search Trends
QR Code Generator reports that Massachusetts takes second place, with an average of 1,562 searches per 100,000 people. Popular searches in the state include “engagement rings” (18,842 searches) and “florists near me” (14,275 searches). Similarly, New Jersey ranks third, with 1,524 searches per 100,000 residents, including 25,717 searches for “engagement rings” and 21,675 for “Valentine’s Day.” This seemed a little random but go off Massachusetts. Let us find out the real deal lovers are in Boston.
Meanwhile, Virginia (1,463 searches per 100,000 residents) and Maryland (1,445) round out the top five, with strong interest in engagement rings and Valentine’s Day gifts. This feels fitting with an emphasis on family life and suburban living. People are happiest when they settle down with Mr. or Mrs. Right.
The Least Romantic State
On the other end of the spectrum, Montana was found to be the least romantic state, with just 803 romance-related searches per 100,000 people each month. Nothing to report here. Except with spring water so fresh, we would be head over hills about Montana’s organic loving and living.
Love Is in the Air
CEO of QR Code Generator, Marc Porcar, noted,
“As Valentine’s Day draws closer, it’s interesting to see how different states prioritize romance. With high search volumes for engagement rings, many lovebirds may be planning to pop the question this year.”
With love in the air, these findings highlight how people across the U.S. are preparing to celebrate their special someone this Valentine’s Day. Do you agree with this study? Comment your thoughts below.
