The Washington, D.C. native opened up about past and future films, the honor of hosting the Oscars, a nickname one of her frequent collaborators gave to her and so much more. POSSIBLE SEQUELS
During the interview, Hudson mentioned the fact that Scary Movie turned 25 this year and emphasized how big of a deal it was. A graceful Hall shared that no one really thought the movie would be a hit but she’s glad it became one. Hudson then asked if there would be a direct sequel to the first movie in the franchise. Hall responded by saying, “That’s what the ghosts are telling me. They’re writing it.” She had a very similar response when Hudson asked her about 2017’s Girls Trip and the potential for a second film. The 54 year-old said she’s been reading on the internet that it’s in the works. She added that Will Packer has said they’re working on it.
KEVIN HART’S NICKNAME FOR HER
Hall has appeared in three movies with Kevin Hart (Think Like a Man, Think Like a Man Too, About Last Night) so it wasn’t surprising when Jennifer Hudson brought him up. She brought up the fact that Hart has a special nickname for his co-star. Hall revealed that Hart refers to her as “Nana Jean Jean” because she’s an old lady that never goes out. Hall flattered Jennifer when she told her that she has to stay home to make sure she catches the show.
HOSTING THE OSCARS
In 2022, Hall co-hosted the 94th Academy Awards alongside Wanda Sykes and Amy Schumer. Hall reminded Hudson that it was the first time that anyone had hosted since the pandemic, making her extremely nervous. She then took a few seconds to reminisce about her first time meeting Jennifer, which took place at the Oscars that year. Hall informed the crowd that right on the steps, she gave Hudson her flowers for her performance in Respect. She continued by explaining how she prepared and how honored she was when she realized the history behind what she was doing.
The two icons touched on numerous other topics including Hall potentially being the next Bachelorette and her first role as a villain in the upcoming film O’Dessa.
