Ayo Edebiri takes the lead, playfully declaring herself a journalist as she fires off thought-provoking questions.

John Malkovich is asked which of his projects first come to mind when fans tell him they “love his work.” Stephanie Suganami discusses the criteria for recruiting members of a potential cult, Murray Bartlett weighs in on whether he’s ever Googled himself, and Juliette Lewis reacts to being called “mother.”

Things take an even funnier turn when Ayo asks Malkovich which cast member is “most likely to start a cult,” to which he immediately replies, “You.”

Delighted by his answer, Ayo follows up by asking if he would join her cult, and Malkovich doesn’t hesitate to say yes.

Opus Hits Theaters On March 14

As previously reported, Opus follows Ariel Ecton (Ayo Edebiri), a young magazine writer who receives an exclusive invitation to a listening party at the secluded compound of Alfred Moretti (John Malkovich), a legendary pop star who vanished from the public eye 30 years prior. Upon arrival, she encounters a gathering of celebrities and journalists, all seemingly under Moretti’s influence. As Ariel delves deeper, she uncovers unsettling behaviors and cult-like dynamics among the attendees, leading her to question the true nature of Moretti’s intentions.

In addition to Edebiri (Big Mouth, The Bear, Bottoms) and Malkovich (Johnny English, Burn After Reading, Juno), the film also stars Juliette Lewis (Enough, Starsky & Hutch, Yellowjackets), Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus, Welcome to Chippendales, The Last of Us), Amber Midthunder (Legion, Reservation Dogs), Stephanie Suganami, Young Mazino (Beef), Tatanka Means and Tony Hale (Arrested Development, Veep).

Mark Anthony Green makes his directorial debut with the film that he also wrote. Collin Creighton, Brad Weston, Poppy Hanks, Jelani Johnson, and Josh Bachove all serve as producers on the project. Before Opus hits theaters everywhere on March 14, the highly anticipated film will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in Salt Lake City this weekend (January 27th).
