Every year, the movie theater industry gathers in Las Vegas, Nevada to celebrate CinemaCon. Hollywood studios, filmmakers and theater owners come together to showcase upcoming films, new technology and industry trends. The event features exclusive movie previews, celebrity appearances and presentations from studios (Disney, Warner Bros., Universal, etc). Yesterday (April 2nd), attendees were blessed with the second trailer of the highly anticipated movie The Accountant 2, the sequel to the 2016 thriller.

The Accountant 2 brings forth the return of Christian Wolff (played by Ben Affleck), who has a talent for solving complex problems. When an old acquaintance is murdered, leaving behind a cryptic message to “find the accountant,” Wolff is compelled to solve the case. Realizing more extreme measures are necessary, Wolff recruits his estranged and highly lethal brother, Braxton, to help. In partnership with U.S. Treasury Deputy Director Marybeth Medina, they uncover a deadly conspiracy, becoming targets of a ruthless network of killers who will stop at nothing to keep their secrets buried.

In the new trailer, we get a glimpse into the relationship between the two brothers, who just so happen to have not seen each other in 8 years. The three minute preview showcases Christian and Braxton legitimately bonding, albeit through killing people. It isn’t just all action though, as we also get to see Affleck at a speed dating event, line dancing in a country bar and enjoying time on the dock with his younger brother. The trailer shows us a different side of the character but also reminds us of the one we met nearly 9 years ago.

Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead, The Punisher, The Bear), Cynthia Addai-Robinson (Colombiana, Arrow, Shooter, Power), and J.K. Simmons (Law & Order, Spider-Man trilogy, Burn After Reading, Justice League) return to reprise their characters from the first film. They are joined by Daniella Pineda (The Detour, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Jurassic World Dominion), Allison Robertson, Robert Morgan (Babylon) and Grant Harvey (Animal Kingdom).

The Accountant 2 was written by Bill Dubuque, with Gavin O’Connor directing. Affleck, Lynette Howell Taylor and Mark Williams took on producer responsibilities. The highly anticipated film will hit theaters globally on April 25th. As we wait, check out the new trailer and some photos from CinemaCon below!
