Shall I compare thee to a summers day, after one listen to the Canadian musician Ormiston’s debut album I am fairly convinced Shakespeare wrote that about his music. Lending itself perfectly to the balmy tropics of a lush summers day, his psychedelia infused soundscape with a Vampire Weekend feel mixed with a shimmering production of funky rhythms and laidback sun kissed electronics was made for the summer months. Hammer Down is a paradise in album form that was made for long drives with a group of your closest friends, hell I might even do it myself, but there was one track that popped out for me.
Time Fades depicts an urgency for living, that feeling we all have inside us that compels us to go on adventures, explore the world we live in and create memories that will last a lifetime. It’s a simply electric number with Ormiston’s roaring vocal taking it to new heights and a funky drop that gets your head bopping to beat with ease. Crack open a cold one, lie back down in your collapsable chair or hammock and let the good times flow as you’re taken away to a tropical paradise with this scintillating summer treat.
