Earlier this week (March 10th), Apple TV+ celebrated the upcoming two-part documentary film event ‘Number One on the Call Sheet’ with a premiere screening in New York, ahead of the global launch. Producer and contributor Kevin Hart surprised guests, bringing down the house as he introduced the documentary, proclaiming “I personally think ‘Number One on the Call Sheet’ is genius—one of the best ideas I’ve ever been able to be a part of—especially in the space of documentary and storytelling.”
With unprecedented access and candid interviews, Apple TV+’s ‘Number One on the Call Sheet’ takes us on an intimate journey with some of Hollywood’s most extraordinary leading Black men and women as they shine a light on the joys and challenges of being a Black actor, share breakthrough moments, discuss blueprints for success, and honor legends, while recognizing the next generation’s enormous potential.
Spotlighting this two-part film event, Director Reginald Hudlin added, “This is a movie of winners. They all have their own path and their own way to success. And whether you are in the entertainment business or not, I think there are lessons to come from all of these amazing men and women.”
Following the screening, he momentous evening continued with a panel discussion. The conversation was moderated by Emmy Award-winning journalist and host Kelley Carter and featured ‘Number One on the Call Sheet: Black Leading Men in Hollywood’ Director Reginald Hudlin, and producers Datari Turner and Dan Cogan. The filmmakers shared their hope that audiences who see these films are inspired to continue the legacy of these great artisans who have changed the course of history.
Academy Award-nominee Alfre Woodward and Director Shola Lynch attended on behalf of ‘Number One on the Call Sheet: Black Leading Women In Hollywood,’ which will be celebrated with a New York premiere tonight.
Jamie Foxx, Datari Turner (Foxxhole Productions), Kevin Hart (Hartbeat) and Dan Cogan (Story Syndicate) produced both films for Apple TV.
