Last night (Dec. 9), Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King roared onto the scene with its world premiere at Los Angeles’ iconic Dolby Theatre. The star-studded event brought together the film’s talented cast, creative team, and an audience of celebrities who gathered to celebrate this highly anticipated prequel to the 2019 The Lion King. Among the night’s standout moments was the radiant presence of Blue Ivy Carter, who attended alongside her proud parents, Beyoncé and Jay-Z. Check out a gallery of photos from the premiere inside.
The 12-year-old superstar dazzled on the red carpet, exuding confidence and grace. Dressed in a chic ensemble that blended youthful vibrance with high fashion, Blue Ivy effortlessly stole the spotlight. The event was another shining moment for the young Carter, who has already made a name for herself in music and entertainment. Proud mom Beyoncé and dad Jay-Z beamed with pride as they allowed their eldest daughter to grace the carpet boldly by herself. They eventually stood by her side, showing their support for her role as Princess Kiara, the oldest daughter of Queen Nala (voiced by Beyoncé).
Blue Ivy’s presence added an extra layer of magic to the night, which was already brimming with excitement for Mufasa: The Lion King. Directed by Barry Jenkins, the prequel explores the origins of the beloved lion king, voiced by Aaron Pierre, and his journey from orphaned cub to legendary leader. Featuring stunning visuals and a powerful score, the film has been hailed as a deeply emotional and inspiring addition to Disney’s growing slate of live-action adaptations.
The premiere welcomed a host of stars, including Aaron Pierre (Mufasa), Tiffany Boone (Sarabi), Keith David (Masego), Anika Noni Rose (Afia), Seth Rogen (Pumbaa) and more.
As the premiere unfolded, one thing became clear: the night belonged not only to Mufasa but also to the bright future represented by young stars like Blue Ivy. With such a stellar debut at the premiere, it’s safe to say she’s already following in her parents’ iconic footsteps.
Beyoncé shared a sweet post on her personal Instagram after the premiere, celebrating her daughter. She posted two photos from the special event saying, “My gorgeous baby girl. This is your night. You worked hard and you did such a beautiful job as the voice of Kiara. Your family could not be prouder. Keep shining.”
