The critically-lauded Queens drill rapper, Shawny Binladen follows up his single “Chasing Pape,” with new album along with a video for the album’s title track: Wicknation – listen HERE.

The 11-track LP features a collaboration with Alabama’s very own princess of rap, Flo Milli called “Buggout,” produced by Young Fyre (Chris Brown, Britney Spears). It also includes features by Big Yaya on “Put It Down” and “Dead Nixxas,”  together with wider production on Wicknation by Chulo (Jay Kritch), Ess, J6 (Pasto Flocco), Smokksstaks, Natt Carlos (Kay Flock) and more.

Known for his potently blended hard beats amidst his signature hushed delivery, from the streets to the editorial pages, Shawny’s been solidified as one of the most exciting young talents in the drill scene. Recently he dropped back to back singles “Kapital G” and, “No IG” and it quickly found its way on Billboard’s ‘R&B/Hip-Hop Fresh Picks of the Week’ playlist as well as Viper Magazine’s ‘Let Me Put You On’ New Music Round-up. On the release of new music he shared, “I’m back, and I’m ready to share what I’ve been cooking up; sh*t is about to get wicked”

Last year saw the release of his highly-acclaimed project, WiCKMAN STiCKMAN that even found its way into the hearts of editors from Pitchfork to NPR. Prior to that release, Shawny first gained attention with his back to back hits,”Whole Lotta Wickery” “Wockhardt” and “Faith” off his 2020 mixtape Merry Wickmas, which showcased his signature whispery flow. In addition to his music career, Shawny Binladen has also been making a name for himself on the touring circuit, supporting acts like Babyface Ray and more, bringing his unique style of drill rap to audiences across the country.

4. Jeshi ft. Sainté – Saint Or Sinner

Source:Jeshi

Today, London’s concept album King, Jeshi has dropped his new single “SAINT OR SINNER” featuring alternative rap talent Sainté. The futuristic production from JD. Reid, bb & RJ, creates a hazy, beautiful atmosphere on “SAINT OR SINNER”. Sainté, is the perfect collaborator to add to this musical vortex.

At the core of Jeshi’s sophomore effort is dynamism; the harnessing of movement and his quest to feel alive in every sense of the word. This sentiment has always felt core to Jeshi’s artistic mission. This has never been as palpable as on Jeshi’s electrifying second album AIRBAG WOKE ME UP set to release on January 24 2025.

It’s a collection of moment-capturing songs built to ignite reactions and start conversations. His scene-stealing jaunts to stages worldwide clearly influence his live-wire sound. Jeshi and his cohort smash through moods and tempos like kids let loose on dodgem cars. “I want to make things that have intent and feel like statements,” Jeshi declares. His versatile voice is the conductive thread that pulls everything together. “On [debut album] Universal Credit, my voice was used in one way, whereas on this it’s used in ten ways,” he explains.

Creatively, Airbag Woke Me Up embraces the full range of production at Jeshi’s disposable and finds something amorphous and ever-changing. “SAINT OR SINNER” is a perfect representation of the dichotomy that his endless searching unearths. Represented by the title but also in the mood shift that takes place halfway through the track as we are pulled into a tone change by eerie bass keyboards.

Jeshi elaborates on the new single, “‘SAINT OR SINNER’ is really about contrast and the lows inside of the highs we’ve been blessed with. It was sick linking up with Sainté for this as we were fans of each other for a minute, so it’s good to have him on the album. That switch at the end still gets me every time…”

“SAINT OR SINNER” comes after the chaos capturing “HURRICANE”. A beautiful track with haunting vocals from London singer-songwriter LEILAH and mind-melting visuals from The Uncanny (Corteiz, New Balance). “HURRICANE” is about grappling with the mayhem of life, trying to tame it and struggling.

Jeshi has jumped straight into releasing again after his 5 city and 7 date Australia & New Zealand tour and a packed London Fashion Week which included attending front row at shows by Ahluwalia, Fashion East, Labrum, Natasha Zinko as well as events with The Face, Slawn X Saatchi, Knwls, Jordan Luca & Wonderland.

Jeshi’s authentic realism and self-understanding has made him beloved with fans and critics alike. Introspective without dwelling and honest without being glum, Jeshi finds a unique balance to reflect his perspective.

5. Konyikeh – Problem With Authority

Source:Konyikeh

After returning to the musical sphere last month with her singles “Sit Down,” and “Lie To Me” British musician Konyikeh has released her second EP, Problem With Authority. Alongside the EP announcement, Konyikeh shares the focus track, also titled ‘Problem With Authority’ – “I wrote the track a couple of years ago when I was going through a lot in my personal life. I was being told what to do by a lot of people in my life and I had just had enough. I was also listening to a lot of gospel music at the time and that heavily influenced how I wrote the track as well.”

Fresh off touring with Sam Smith and Tems and building on the success of her acclaimed 2023 debut EP, Litany, Konyikeh continues to captivate audiences with her soulful music and unforgettable voice. “Problem With Authority” is a captivating step up in confidence and sonics, and while it has some of its predecessor’s plaintiveness, broadly it replaces the liturgic sorrow of Litany with a greater sense of ease, mellifluousness and even determination. “The EP ‘Problem with Authority’ is a culmination of stories I wanted to tell. Throughout you can hear a range of influences from gospel to Cuban. It was written between the ages of 19 to 22 as I was growing up and entering a new stage of my life facing loss, isolation and the breakdown of relationships.” Says Konyikeh on the project.

Classically trained in singing, piano and violin, Konyikeh started writing songs as a teenager to hold herself together through a difficult time, dealing with issues of race, displacement, body image, self-worth, family and faith. This new, five-song collection still unravels the young artist’s inner-world and insecurities, but in place of the devastating, diaristic rawness, here things feel a little more defiant, frank, colourful and cavalier, whether she’s telling stories she’s heard from her friends, or imagining scenarios inspired by romcoms or slightly darker influences – like the gleaming humidity of ‘Lie To Me’, a track where woman fantasies about killing her cheating husband.

Konyikeh’s rising career has been marked by numerous accolades. Her distinctive voice first gained widespread attention at the 2022 BRIT Awards, where she performed alongside Dave in his rendition of “In The Fire.” Since then, she has garnered support from outlets such as The Guardian, The Fader, British Vogue, Wonderland, and BBC Radio, and delivered a poignant performance on the well-known platform COLORS.

As a music scholar and alumna of the Guildhall School of Music, Konyikeh was encouraged to channel intense emotions into her performances—an approach that continues to shape her work. Despite struggling with her identity in predominantly white spaces growing up, she is now reconnecting with her heritage and rebuilding her confidence.

Adding to her exciting journey, Konyikeh will be performing live at The Great Escape First Fifty at Folklore, London, on November 13th. She will take the stage at 9:30 PM, offering fans an intimate chance to experience her powerful voice and moving performances firsthand.

Stay tuned for more from Konyikeh, a rising star and vital new voice in UK music.

6. Celeste – This Is Who I Am

Source:Celeste

Today CELESTE makes her eagerly awaited return with the release of brand-new single “This Is Who I Am” via Capitol Records. Produced by Kendrick collaborators BEACH NOISE, the BRIT Award-winner and Oscar nominee CELESTE has held the song close for almost four years. Now, as she prepares to tell the next chapter of her story, the stirring “This Is Who I Am” is less a reintroduction to Celeste’s music and more an act of self-actualization, a complete creative distillation of her craft that sees her step with purpose into her new era.

“This Is Who I Am” is a track that finds drama in simplicity, as the artist’s velvety, old-world voice wraps around melancholy piano chords and cinematic strings that swell towards a belting crescendo. Speaking about the single, Celeste says, “This song has existed for a long time, and it felt almost unjust that circumstances didn’t allow it to come out four years ago. Now, with everything aligning, this moment serves as a powerful acknowledgment of something that, back then, felt unresolved.”

“This Is Who I Am” is the title song for Peacock and Sky’s new series The Day of the Jackal. An adaptation of the Frederick Forsyth novel of the same name, the track was selected for the show’s opening credits, handpicked by Eddie Redmayne, who plays the titular assassin, and his co-star Lashana Lynch.

A lot has happened since Celeste’s spell-binding performance of her breakout song “Strange” at the BRIT Awards placed her firmly in the global spotlight. The British-Jamaican musician, who landed the prestigious double win for both the BRITs Rising Star Award and BBC Music’s Sound of 2020, achieved a No. 1 on the UK charts with her 2021 debut album Not Your Muse. That year also saw her earn a Mercury Prize nomination alongside Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for “Hear My Voice,” her lead single from The Trial of the Chicago 7.

Since then, Celeste has taken a step back from the glare of mainstage spotlights to recalibrate and reconnect with herself, figuring out how to stay true to her vision and sense of authenticity in her work. It’s this mentality that led Celeste to collaborate with Tate Modern for the launch of her 2022 single “To Love A Man,” release this year’s “Everyday” with a limited vinyl run and a live performance at record store Rough Trade in London.

Celeste cites her most recent work on Steve McQueen’s upcoming World War II drama Blitz as the most fulfilling, marking the first time the artist has acted on screen.

“Meeting Steve McQueen was one of the most inspiring and significant moments of my life in the last two years,” says Celeste. Witnessing the director’s uncompromising attention to detail on set, she explains, helped reaffirm her belief in artistic intuition, aligning with the core statement of “This Is Who I Am” and her subsequent approach to writing music, reinstalling her confidence and sense of navigation.

All of which brings us back to “This Is Who I Am.” On the song, her warm, raspy voice asserting that “Only you can tell them this is who I am,” Celeste appears to address the person who is all knowing of who she is. Perhaps that was true at the time of writing. But after four years of introspection, it’s clear that this is an artist who knows herself better than anyone else and is giving others the voice and confidence to be who they are, bravely and boldly. The singer climbed to the summit of the music industry, took in the view, and carefully traced the way back to her truth. Who is Celeste? She’s about to show you.

Source:nimino

Today, buzzing UK producer nimino enlists the enigmatic house music maverick Claptone for a remix of his viral hit “I Only Smoke When I Drink.” The new remix is out now via Counter Records/Ninja Tune. The new remix arrives as nimino is in the heat of his current North American tour.

Initially blowing up on TikTok with 17M organic plays, “I Only Smoke When I Drink” is currently clocking in at over 500,000 plays per day, has spent nine consecutive weeks on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Chart, reached #57 on the official UK Singles Chart, has moved up to the BBC Radio 1 A list, and has amassed over 100k Shazams since its release. Wonderland has it on repeat, Diplo is rinsing it in his sets, and Music Ally analyzed the strategy behind its success.

The song is just a glimpse of nimino’s knack for catchy songwriting. Paired with his unique world-building techniques, nimino creates a rich palette of illusory, lo-fi, UKG-flecked house and hip-hop that has caught on in a serious way. Claptone deftly takes these soft, fuzzy sounds and reimagines a bouncy, tech house-laced foundation for them while retaining the magic of the lead synths and vocals.

In light of the success of “I Only Smoke When I Drink,” nimino has returned to North America and his hometown of London, currently in the midst of a 13-show stint through major cities like New York City, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Boston, San Francisco, and more. 9. FAVE – Dutty Love

Source:FAVE

Bad Habit/Atlantic Records has officially announced the signing of FAVE. Today, the award-winning Nigerian breakout artist celebrates with the release of her raw and unapologetic sophomore EP, DUTTY LOVE HERE. Alongside the EP, FAVE showcases her acting skills in The Dutty Love Show – a comedic dating game show with FAVE portraying seven characters inspired by the EP tracklist. FAVE also teamed up with Trace Naija for their coveted live series to perform songs from DUTTY LOVE. Watch her electrifying Trace Sessions set HERE.

“I know how hard it is to pull yourself out of a love situation that doesn’t work anymore,” FAVE shares. “I hope people relate to the stories in these songs. I hope it’s a wake-up call to know when to let go. And when you reach that point, put on this EP.”

“FAVE is a force of nature whose talent is limitless,” says Bad Habit co-founders Kirk Harding and Matthew “Baus” Adesuyan. “Bad Habit is built on nurturing phenomenal artists and empowering them to share their gifts with the world. We are proud to partner with FAVE, her management team Tumblar and our Atlantic Records family on her next chapter.”

“As we embark on this new era at Atlantic, FAVE is the kind of artist that excites us about the future of global music,” says Lanre Gaba, President, Hip-Hop, R&B and Global at Atlantic Records. “We are fortunate to have partners in Kirk and Matt at Bad Habit who have an undeniable eye and ear for true artistry. Together, we are looking forward to reaching new heights with FAVE.”

Not allowing the weight of toxic love to hold her down, DUTTY LOVE is a razor-sharp exploration of past relationships and the trials and tribulations of friendships. It’s been a whirlwind year for the rising star as she skillfully juggles the demands of finishing her Law degree while finalizing her most vulnerable project. FAVE, also known as Big Dutty Girl FAVE, has emerged as the embodiment of authenticity, and this project captures the 24-year-old artist in her most genuine form. The songstress has been setting the tone all year with her recent singles Controlla and No Games, both of which have quickly become fan favorites and are now featured as part of the highly anticipated EP.

FAVE’s (derived from her real name, God’sFavour) minute-long Twitter videos took the music community in her homeland by storm during the early days of lockdown, marking the birth of a star. As the middle child of three siblings, she has spent the past two decades living in Eastern and South-Western Nigeria, beginning her musical journey at six. Before her internet fame in 2020, FAVE was studying and has just completed pursuing a degree in Law. As her songs gained popularity, attending school became increasingly challenging, prompting FAVE to adopt various disguises to blend in. Musically, FAVE is a versatile artist who has dabbled in Dancehall, Afropop, Afrobeats, Dance, and R&B, considering herself a “no genre” girl. Her poetic lyrics often stem from an opening line, with the rest of the story unfolding naturally. She skillfully conveys vulnerability and courage in her music, blending a range of emotions into high-tempo drum progressions. In 2022, just months after her chart-topping debut hit “Baby Riddim” taken from her debut EP, FAVE won the “Rookie of the Year” award at the Headies. She also received multiple nominations for “Best New Artist” and “Most Promising Artist” at the Afrima Awards and Soundcity Music Awards, solidifying her status as a rising star in the music industry. In the same year, FAVE received numerous accolades, including recognition as one of BET x Nissan’s Afrobeats Up Next stars, Spotify’s Equal Africa Ambassador, Apple Music’s ‘One To Watch,’ and one of Audiomack’s ‘African Artists to Watch Out For.’

FAVE refuses to tread familiar paths in her creative journey. Youthful and endlessly curious, she’s constantly evolving, absorbing, and honing her craft. She challenges you not to underestimate her potential. Despite being in the early stages of her career, she’s already garnered support from influential platforms like COLORS, Wonderland and Okay Africa, with collaborations with the likes of Davido, Phyno, Masicka, Olamide, Tay Iwar, Simi, and more under her belt. With a fire in her heart and a determination to innovate, she’s poised to captivate the industry in the blink of an eye.

10. Pa Salieu – Dece (Heavy)

Source:Pa Salieu

‘Afrikan Di Alien’ is my story, my purpose. I started putting it together the moment I got out of prison, building it on real reflections and real experiences I processed while I was away. These bars were born in a cell and completed when I was released, with each collaboration — from Byron Messiah to ODUMODUBLVCK to Black Sherif — being organic and true, like home-cooked food from the motherland, filled with love and truth. ‘Afrikan Di Alien,’ for example, was inspired by conversations Black Sherif and I shared about Africa’s politics and the corruption and politics that hold us back.

My music explains who I am and what I stand for; it’s how I speak to the world. I was processed through the system, but I processed my mind towards freedom. So, when I come up against restrictions — like venues that won’t let me perform — I don’t feel sorry for myself or hold animosity towards others. I keep going because I understand why. Now, I’m back with nothing to prove, only here to experience the joys of making music. Every track is a new energy, a different conversation, made to bring a little peace amidst all the oppression and chaos. In the artwork, you’ll see my head is a crown, the tribal marks, and the Marcus Garvey flag of Pan-African unity — all symbols of where I come from and who I am. There’s power in music, power in unity, and a call to bring our people together in these times of division. To me, this project is more than just a collection of songs; it’s a reminder of our roots, our unity, and our shared purpose.

To me, ‘Afrikan Alien’ represents my freedom.

-– Pa Salieu

Piggy backing off of both ‘Kissing In Da Club’ and ‘Fur Coat’ , ‘5000 Degrees’ serves as a climatic piece that adds structure to the world I’m building. The tension is finally peaking, but as the saying goes, ‘if you can’t stand the heat, get out the kitchen.”

21. Alice Phoebe Lou – Better

Source:Alice Phoebe Lou

Today, globally adored singer-songwriter Alice Phoebe Lou idealizes a love story that hasn’t even begun on “Better.” Buoyant melodies pave the way for Alice’s honeyed vocals as she depicts the early, untouchable bliss of a new love that won’t necessarily stand the test of time. Nostalgic, vintage keys  dress the track in thoughts of cherished memories, sweetening the mirage of intense, fleeting connections — Stream

Recorded at Cedar Creek Studio in Austin, TX while on the road with Clairo, the independently released track sees Alice joined by David Parry on guitar, Dekel Adin on bass and percussion, and Ziv Yamin on drums and piano.

“I wrote this song on my childhood piano at my mother’s house in one sitting,” shares Alice. “I tapped into my imagination and past experiences of the way I used to idealize someone when I first met them, imagining an unrealistic future and being blind to their faults. Putting someone on a pedestal then makes the fall back to earth even harder, when reality sets in and you realize everything you’ve projected onto them and that they could never live up to that.”

Since late September, Alice and her band have been touring North America alongside Clairo on the Charm Tour. In thoughtfully selected, intimate settings, both artists have showcased the depth of their artistry in the format that communicates it best. To close out her North America shows for the year, Alice has a headline show at New York’s Brooklyn Steel on Sunday, November 10. In April of 2025, Alice has announced that she will be opening for Remi Wolf at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre — see all upcoming dates here.

Back in July, Alice released another single titled “The World Above.” A self-reflective metaphor about looking up from underwater, Alice’s hopeful lyrics gain confidence alongside celestial keys and cascading guitars that lift each other along the way.

22. Moody Joody – Dream Girl

Source:Moody Joody

Today, Nashville-based shimmer pop band Moody Joody share their electrifying, glittery debut EP Dream Girl out everywhere now via Photo Finish Records. Alongside the full project, the band shares a hazy, nostalgic track “El Camino High,” a groovy tune to perfectly accompany a yearn-filled long drive at sunset. Tonight, the trio will celebrate the brand new music live at Nashville’s Row One with support from Natalie Madigan. Synthy, sexy and earnest, Dream Girl allows Moody Joody to feel everything and encourages listeners to dance through it all.

The fresh debut project from Moody Joody embodies the duality of being human–from dance floor anthems to tracks that embrace the less glamorous side of life and being a musician. Embedded throughout are singers Kayla Hall (lead vocals, guitar) and Kaitie Forbes (lead vocals, guitar) experiences as women–the hardships, the joys and everything in between–resulting in an empowered, cohesive collection that serves as an outlet to express their high hopes and deep fears and sonically, is a blend of their eclectic tastes. Forbes says the project allows her to release expectations of perfectionism–being a Dream Girl–and embrace who they each are. “‘Dream Girl’, our first body of work, is a story of romance, existential crisis’, loss & rebirth. The duality of the high-energy optimistic dream pop versus the darker, honest and vulnerable edge is our way of owning our humanness, and stepping down from the pedestal that we’ve been placed on in our lives.”

Holding space for a wide range of emotions and experiences including romance, mental health, chasing the dream, unrequited love, longing, self-acceptance, depression and being in one’s power, Hall adds the EP, “was born from a place of capturing the duality of life and our experiences and raw emotions as women in the world translated into an edgy, dreamy indie pop EP. We wanted to capture everything that we are and feel, which at times is sexy, ethereal, lighthearted, powerful and at other times is dark, deep, depressed and raw; creating a safe space for ourselves to experience and embrace the highs and lows of womanhood through this project.”

“El Camino High,” out today, looks at the past through rose-colored glasses, putting a relationship in a better light than it really was. Like a late afternoon cruise, it pushes forward smoothly as it evokes waves of nostalgia and lingers long after it ends. The band is thrilled to share a track that they each feel represents the band today and where they are headed. Hall says, “it felt like the perfect way to end our journey with the ‘Dream Girl’ EP while simultaneously catapulting us into a next new album chapter feeling like we’ve really honed in on who we are as a band. ‘El Camino High’ truly feels like Moody Joody at our best across the board from the lyrics and musical composition to the way it translates so seamlessly to video and the live show.” Producer Andrew Pacheco echoes the energy it brings to the live show and adds, “It’s been a lot of fun to play live on this last tour, and I’m looking forward to seeing how that energy inspires the next batch of new music.”

Last month, Moody Joody shared “Cuts Deep,” an anthemic tune that captures the frantic energy of the “define the relationship” conversation, when a fun fling has turned into deep feelings. High energy and filled with sass and slight sarcasm, it was written during an off day in New York City with frequent collaborator Scott Harris (Shawn Mendes, Dua Lipa).

The previously shared roaring “Ground Control,” an escapist, apocalyptic pop tune that explores burn out–starting at rock bottom and propelling onward and upward. Over a catchy melody and playful rhyme schemes, the track sees Moody Joody attempt to quiet the noise and avoid getting lost in the days where life feels cyclical and dull. Written in New York City with Harris, the track is a shiny reminder to take risks, set high goals and to look ahead–beyond the immediate future. Atwood Magazine called it a “spirited, seductive fever dream: a rush of radiant alt-pop ecstasy.”

In August, the trio shared a fresh, re-worked St. Lucia remix of the smooth, synthy “Velvet Connection.” Also co-written by Scott Harris, the tune is a bright, shimmering pop tune that chronicles the early stages of an electric, forbidden summer crush.

Most recently, the band completed a string of dates supporting labelmates MisterWives as they captivated audiences across the U.S. Seattle’s Aftershow Magazine drew comparisons to The Veronicas and Chappell Roan, and raved, “With refined sound style and high-quality production, Moody Joody is poised for even bigger stages.” This summer, Moody Joody connected with MisterWives on their deluxe album, Nosebleeds: Encore, with an all new version of “All The Same,” joining a staggering list of collaborators, including Betty Who, Meet Me @ The Altar, PVRIS, Pom Pom Squad and more. They also recently supported indie pop band Smallpools on tour.

Moody Joody is a trio made up of Kayla Hall, Kaitie Forbes, Andrew Pacheco (producer). In 2020, the band shared their debut single “The Heat” and has steadily released a string of tracks since. As they continue to build their own sonic universe with the release of their debut EP, the group embraces duality, unafraid to meet their emotions head-on and dissect the varied layers of the human experience using dynamic, dreamy production, sparkling instrumentation, soaring vocals and honest lyricism.

Moody Joody find strength in embracing life’s highs and lows with their mesmerizing, magnetic debut EP Dream Girl out now via Photo Finish Records along with the ethereal, nostalgia-tinged track “El Camino High.” Join Moody Joody live in Nashville tonight to celebrate the project at Row One with tickets on sale here. Connect with Moody Joody on InstagramTwitterYouTube, and TikTok to stay up-to-date with the rising trio.

23. Friedberg – Hardcore Workout Queen

Source:Friedberg – Topic

Today, Friedberg release their long awaited debut album ‘Hardcore Workout Queen’, via Clouds Hill stream here, alongside the new single ‘So Dope’. The band also played their first UK headline show at London’s iconic 100 Club this week to celebrate the release of the album.

Bringing together their distinctive own-brand of alt-pop, Friedberg’s debut album ‘Hardcore Workout Queen’ broadens sonic palettes: psychedelia, dance punk and cowbell all joining the fray, often coupled with huge pop-leaning hooks. The results? An electric debut album that is undeniably Friedberg. In their frontwoman Anna Friedberg’s own words, it is: “like an endless road trip, with no destination.” The bands first record is filled with songs made for long drives with close pals, the sort of journeys where deep conversations become second nature and your innermost feelings are discussed over service station snacks and slightly-too-warm fizzy drinks. The kind of road trip you never want to end.

The album, featuring fan favourites; ‘Hello’, ‘My Best Friend’, ‘The Greatest’ and title track ‘Hardcore Workout Queen’, unlocks a further six unheard tracks, such as the breezy ‘Venice 142’ and synth driven ‘100 Times’, alongside the infectiously punky ‘Better Than We Are’ and transfixing album closer ‘Pull Me Off The Passing Line’.

Talking about the release of the album, Anna says “I suppose you could say this album is a journey through the inner workings of my past few years. It’s vast and minute, it’s everything and nothing. It’s about breaking in and breaking free, about slipping into someone else’s mind for a holiday from your own thoughts.”

The album writing and recording started whilst on a road trip through Joshua Tree and California,, alongside Daniel Brandt and Matthias Biermann, and paved the way for the future direction of Friedberg’s sound, via Dan Carey’s (Hot Chip, Fontaines D.C.) studio in South London, and then finally in Oli Bayston’s (the mastermind behind Boxed In) studio in Walthamstow.

New single ‘So Dope’ is a deceptively cheery track that sees Anna takedown “social media bullshit” and people pretending everything in their life is “so dope” online. “This song feels almost like the counterpoint to Hardcore Workout Queen—it might even be the POV of the Hardcore Workout Queen in our previous song. It’s almost as if these 2 songs on our album are having a conversation. It’s a look at the pressure to present a perfect self: draining, hollow, and ultimately a waste of time, the endless loop of social media showmanship. It makes me think—when all of that fades, what will actually remain? What is your legacy?”

The band returned on the scene earlier this year and have had a jam-packed year already, including a performance at this year’s SXSW, Great Escape Festival, a support slot with German indie rock band Giant Rooks on their month-long U.S tour and recently supporting rising Black Country duo Big Special in May. As well as supporting British alt-rock band Placebo at a handful of their UK shows in June. They finished the summer playing Lost Village Festival in Lincolnshire alongside acts like Royel Otis and Floating Points, whilst also playing their debut headline show at London’s 100 Club..

Friedberg have garnered widespread support so far this year from the likes of The Observer – Ones To Watch, The Guardian, Sunday Mirror – Rising Star, Daily Star, NME, DIY, DORK, Official Charts, 1883 and 6 Music with Steve Lamacq, Huw Stephens, Chris Hawkins, Jess Izsatt at BBC Introducing and Xposure on Radio X.

Formed in 2019 by the Austrian-born Anna Friedberg (writer, vocals, guitar, cowbells and percussion), the line up is completed by London/Berlin-based Emily Linden (guitar, vocals), Cheryl Pinero (bass, vocals) and Fifi Dewey (drums). Friedberg’s early success came from single ‘Go Wild’ – a runaway hit that featured on the FIFA 2020 soundtrack, and in BBC’s Normal People – and their stellar debut EP ‘Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah’, a razor-sharp collection of belters designed for the live stage.

The band has made major waves in Europe with performances at Eurosonic (Holland), Open Air St. Gallen (Switzerland), headlined Popfest (Austria), Haldern Pop (Germany), U.S tour with Hot Chip and support at their x3 Brixton Academy shows in London, supports with Placebo and high profile stadium support shows with AnnenMayKantereit in Germany last Summer.

24. Skilla Baby – Jwett

Source:Skilla Baby

Today, Detroit rapper Skilla Baby drops the hard-hitting “Jwett.” The full-court flex of a single finds the rising star tallying up his various blessings and dismissing would-be rivals with cold threats and punchlines. Listen HERE, via Geffen Records, and watch the accompanying video HERE. The song hails from Skilla’s forthcoming mixtape, CM3 (or Crack Music 3) coming soon.

Produced by regular Skilla Baby collaborator MIA JAY C (42 Dugg, EST Gee, Big 30), “Jwett” is a dark mix of heavy bass, tolling bells, dramatic synth, and relentless drums. Skilla Baby’s voice is sharp over the track and so is his pen as he goes in: “I ain’t met a n***a like me yet / Next season attire, I get flyer than a private jet.” The gritty “Jwett” video is similarly a whirlwind of jewels, clothes, and cash, women, cars, and clubs.

CM3 continues Skilla’s fan-favorite Crack Music series and, in addition to “Jwett,” will feature the recently released “So Bad,” a celebration of loyal ladies featuring his fellow 2024 XXL Freshman cover classmate 4Batz. Other appearance on the mixtape include Hunxho, Toosii, Peezy, and Tee Grizzley. See the full tracklist below.

Things have been taking off for Skilla Baby in 2024. Last month, he celebrated his birthday with a pair of hometown shows creative-directed by artistic powerhouse Teyana Taylor. Guests included Sada Baby, Tee Grizzley, G Herbo, YTB Fatt, Bfb Da Packman, and more. And in July, he expanded his breakout mixtape The Coldest with a Deluxe Edition that included “Booby Trap on the River” featuring BossMan Dlow. The video for the latter continues a trend of Skilla Baby dropping stunning visuals, including for “Project X (G6),” “Misfit,” “Bulletproof,” and “Free Big Meech.” The Coldest broke 100 million streams just ahead of the deluxe reissue.

That same month, Skilla Baby scored the coveted fan-voted “People’s Champ” slot on the XXL 2024 Freshman Class cover. He also wrapped the successful co-headlining Vultures Eat The Most Tour with Rob49, picked up a BET Hip Hop Awards nomination for “Best Breakthrough Hip Hop Artist,” and racked up press plugs from the likes of PeopleAssociated PressGaloreBillboardStereogumRolling Out (cover story), and more.

Fans and peers alike are fueling Skilla Baby’s rise. To date, he has amassed nearly 400 million streams across platforms. He has also notched major co-signs from the likes of Big Sean, Jack Harlow, Southside, Coi Leray, City Girls, Rylo Rodriguez, Luh Tyler, and others. With all that in mind, “Jwett” is a well-deserved victory lap.

25. Yatta Bandz – Acrylic

Source:Yatta Bandz

A powerful lyricist and master of heartfelt melodies, Yatta Bandz best expresses his emotions through his music. Today, the Hayward, CA native paints a picture of life as a rising rap star on his new EP, Acrylic.

The eight-track project expands on the deeply personal narratives Yatta has shared in the past, diving into topics like heartbreak, the importance of love, self-growth, and more. He sets the tone for the project on opening track “All I Ask,” a deeply personal track that finds Yatta begging his girl to make up her mind and stop playing games. He continues to fine-tune his art on the glistening “I Will,” where Yatta promises to treat his girl better than the rest. Despite his past confidence, the Bay Area star gets introspective on “Bad Guy,” recognizing his demons and the mistakes he’s made in the past: “Know that I ain’t perfect, but my loyalty is so legit / I’ve been tryna change the way that I live / I just kept it real, that’s all that I did.” As the project comes to a close, Yatta slows things down, showing off his vocal chops over harmonious strings on “Thank You.” On closing track “A L O N E,” Yatta is at his most vulnerable, letting go of the pain and hurt: “I been A L O N E, dear please G.O.D. / Can you talk to me, had it hard but thankful for them lessons that you taught to me / At war with all my demons, you the only one that fought for me.”

Yatta shared his inspiration behind the EP and the project’s title: “The reasoning behind me choosing Acrylic for my EP is because music is a form of art, and acrylics play a big role in not only painting but many things that are created in the art world physically. My form of art with music can’t be seen, but can be heard and still have an impact on someone’s heart as much as physical art can. Acrylics are one of the most versatile substances and I want my music to be the same way, making you feel love, pain, joy, and sadness.”

The road to Acrylic began earlier this Fall with previously-released EP singles “My Mistake” ft. Lil Bean and “Work of Art.” Born in Hayward, an East Bay city south of Oakland and north of Fremont, Yatta Bandz has quietly become one of the most popular rappers to emerge from the Bay Area this decade. The young rapper had a rough childhood, experiencing periods of homelessness during his elementary school years. He found his refuge in music, sharing freestyles to YouTube and building a following big enough to make his debut album a hit. Since releasing his debut project Perfect Storm in 2022, Yatta has generated over 480 million worldwide streams, including on hits like “Don’t Go” (40.3 million Spotify streams, 10 million YouTube views) and “Unseen Scars” (38 million Spotify streams, 6.7 million views on YouTube audio). Last year, Yatta followed up Perfect Storm with the heartfelt TUFF LUV, home to highlights like “Way Out West” and “Polaroid.” A showcase for his sharp songwriting and achingly honest lyrics, TUFF LUV has racked up over 50 million streams to date across platforms.

With 3 million streams per week on his catalog and Acrylic out now, Yatta hopes to become the next Bay Area rapper to blow.

This time around, he stretches the boundaries of his fiery signature style once again. About “Feelings Never Die,” Eric commented, “I wanted to tap in below the surface level on this one. A lot of my music is based around Love because I’m so deep in it, but I wanted to make a song about being heartbroken and still not giving up. To show people what it looks, sounds and feels like to fight for love.”

The track sets the stage for Eric’s upcoming album It’ll All Make Sense Later. This opus illuminates the scope of his vision inspired by an eye-opening trip to South Africa and his subsequent immersion in Afrobeats stylings. He teases that the new album will be a little different from his former projects, “I’ve always stayed pretty true to R&B in the past whether it be slow or uptempo/club or bedroom vibes lol. But with this project I felt the need to dance. To celebrate. To be triumphant. Each project I’ve always challenged myself to see what I could do next and the first place my heart chose to go was Afro!”

Eric paved the way for It’ll All Make Sense Later with “Special” featuring Konshens. The latter has already received much critical acclaim. BET featured the visual and highlighted how “a night at the casino turns into part one of a love connection.” Rated R&B professed, “On the groove-tinged track, which delectably blends R&B and afrobeats, Bellinger shows appreciation for his woman and reaffirms his devotion to her.”

Hailing from a musical lineage as the grandson of Bobby Day, a hit songwriter for the Jackson 5, Eric followed in his footsteps writing for an array of A-List artists and creating his own incredible catalog of music. 28. State Champs – State Champs

Source:StateChampsNY

Today, Albany-raised pop-punk band State Champs released their highly anticipated fifth studio record and self-titled album via Pure Noise Records. The record is available to order on vinyl and stream now.

To commemorate the release day, the band also shared a music video for their punchy track “Save Face Story,” which had been teased on social media over the past few weeks. There were three other singles put out leading up to today, including “Light Blue,” Too Late To Say,” and “Silver Cloud,” all of which had accompanying music videos.

The band shared their thoughts on “Save Face Story” below:

“’Save Face Story’ is one of our personal favorites from the record. It spotlights an unlikely friendship between State Champs and German-based Hardcore Funk band Slope, providing one of the most exciting and effortlessly cool collaborations Champs has ever done. On paper, the combination might not make total sense, but the result speaks for itself. It’s perhaps an unexpected curve ball added to the rotation of our very familiar brand of windows-down pop punk.”

Nearly 15 years after the band’s formation, lead singer Derek DiScanio, bassist Ryan Scott Graham, guitarist Tyler Szalkowski, and drummer Evan Ambrosio found themselves at different points in their personal lives—marriage, kids, and relocations across the country created new relationship dynamics. Produced by Anton DeLost (Mayday Parade, Hawthorne Heights), State Champs will showcase some of their best edgy, high-energy tracks that have defined their career thus far, making it the exact right time to debut their self-titled album.

“From the outside looking in it seems that State Champs are a band finally taking control of the wheel, possibly because for the first time, they know what direction they should be heading,” shared Kerrang! in their recent cover story on the band.

“We found our way, through the ups and downs within us, personally and as a band, and wanted to express that in this new record,” explains frontman Derek DiScanio. “This is the right time to showcase it.” Bassist Ryan Scott Graham agrees. “When we stepped back and looked at the songs, sonically and thematically, it’s a great vision of who we are. Every era of State Champs exists within this record.”

Comprised of 12 tracks, the songs on this record explode with passionate and smartly constructed precision. While big, bold, and slick, the production nevertheless sounds like a band in a room together or decimating the stage. It’s a perfect example of how the band has become a major player in the pop-punk scene, championing the genre over the past decade.

State Champs head out on their North American tour today, playing a collection of tracks from the new album and their previous hits. Supporting them on this tour are Knuckle Puck, Meet Me at The Altar, and Daisy Grenade. They kick things off tonight in Austin, Texas, and will be visiting major cities throughout November and December, including Phoenix, Anaheim, Salt Lake City, Denver, Cleveland, Nashville, Orlando, Boston, Philadelphia, and Toronto, among others. They will wrap up the tour on December 8 in New York City. Tickets are on sale now at: https://statechamps.band/pages/tour.

Over the course of their career, State Champs has received accolades from the likes of Rolling Stone, MTV, Kerrang!, Upset, Alternative Press, and Rock Sound, among others. Their sophomore album, Around the World and Back, entered the Billboard Current Rock Albums chart at No. 3 and made Rock Sound’s Top 10 Albums of the Year. Living Proof followed in 2018, and that same year Billboard called them “modern-day pop-punk torchbearers.” The band has also collaborated with some of pop-punk’s heaviest hitters, co-writing songs with Alex Gaskarth of All Time Low and Mark Hoppus from Blink-182 on their fourth studio album Kings of the New Age.

Rolling Stone spoke with the band exclusively on their record this summer and shared they are “channeling their definitive mix of punchy punk rhythms and irresistible pop hooks in the new tracks.” On State Champs, they cement themselves as an outfit that can and will stand the test of time.

Source:Real Boston Richey

Real Boston Richey delivers his sophomore studio album, Richey Rich, today, accentuating what’s been a banner year in 2024 with his second LP in as many years. Richey Rich, which features guest contributions from Lil Yachty, GloRilla and YTB Fatt, is available now.

The album is supported by the fan-favorite hit single, “Help Me” and its hotly-coveted sequel, “Help Me 2,” along with the GloRilla-featured “Get In There” and “The Type” featuring YTB Fatt.

Over the course of 24 songs, Richey continues to conjure the autobiographical atmosphere of his landmark debut, last year’s Welcome to Bubbaland, with the intro, “Pain to Profit,” as his rags-to-riches tone setter. Sprinkled throughout the album are equal parts street anthem and moments of vulnerability, ranging from bouncier cuts like, “Cup Spill,” “Kick Flavor,” and his latest single, “Come Outside,” to pronounced scriptwriting ventures like, “Story,” where Richey’s storytelling abilities are fully on display.

Richey Rich arrives on the heels of the best stretch of Richey’s career. “Help Me,” his May single that quickly developed into a social media sensation, earned Richey the first Billboard Hot 100 entry of his solo career peaking at #50, the first Hot Rap Songs Top 10 of his career and has 117 Million global streams to date. Anticipation reached deafening levels, prompting the release of the sequel, “Help Me 2,” featured on Richey’s sophomore album.

Welcome 2 Bubbaland, Richey’s debut album released in September of last year, kick-started Richey’s heightened Billboard presence, reaching a peak of no. 42 on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart, a career mark for the Tallahassee, FL native. An audience fortified over time with the release of multiple Billboard chart-relevant mixtapes, Public Housing and Public Housing 2, have given Richey a robust audience that he’s grown at rapid rates in 2024, and the rising star rewards it with his second studio album in as many years.

37. Griff – Last Night’s Mascara

Source:Griff

Continuing a breakout year, global pop sensation Griff shares her highly anticipated, gripping new single “last night’s mascara.” Listen HERE via Warner Records.

The track follows her recent cover of Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory classic “Pure Imagination,” which notably soundtracks Target’s 2024 “Happier Holidays From Target” holiday campaign. “last night’s mascara” is a long-awaited fan-favorite that generated buzz as she performed it while performing throughout the US on her own Vertigo headline tour and supporting Sabrina Carpenter’s Short ‘n Sweet Tour. Earlier this summer, Griff was notably handpicked by Taylor Swift to open her Wembley Stadium show in London.

Meanwhile, her debut album Vertigo, has incited unanimous critical applause and confirms Griff as the next great British pop star. Moving through the cycles of melancholy, disorientation, euphoria and self-discovery, it’s a coming-of-age journey that Griff has taken fans on ever since she broke through during the pandemic. With a 360-approach on everything from production, fashion and design, to the spiral motif long connecting Vertigo in plain sight, Griff’s debut album turns the tumultuousness of young adulthood into a vibrant source of power.

Such moments of catharsis are evident on focus track “Tears For Fun,” a contemplation on the future and faith. Its existential angst is set to the kind of anthemic and ultimately uplifting songwriting that is weaved throughout Vertigo: from the euphoric “Anything” to fan-favorite “Miss Me Too” and title track “Vertigo.” Chronicling those first loves, losses, disasters and triumphs, Vertigo is a life-affirming pop record whose inner spiral sparks Griff’s ascent.

Fittingly, undeniable emotion culminates in the chorus, “And I got love for an open road and the radio, and it don’t matter what we do or where we go. If I got you, you got me, from the mountains all the way to the shining sea, that seems a good place to be.”
