The streamer announced that the upcoming comedy series Clean Slate will debut all eight episodes on Thursday, February 6th, 2025. Starring four-time Emmy-nominated actress Laverne Cox (Orange Is the New Black, Doubt, The Masked Singer) and legendary comedian George Wallace (Batman Forever, 3 Strikes, The Wash), the series will stream exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
Clean Slate follows Harry (played by Wallace), an old-school car wash owner in Alabama who has a lot of soul searching to do when the child he thought was a son returns after 17 years as a proud trans woman, Desiree (played by Cox). Her return from New York brings together a hilarious cast of friends, coworkers, and love interests as Desiree and Harry try to get it right the second time around. The heartfelt comedy series explores universal themes of unconditional love, all through Norman Lear’s signature boundary-pushing brand of comedy.
Alongside Cox and Wallace, the cast also includes Telma Hopkins (Family Matters, Half & Half), D.K. Uzoukwu (The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl, The Choir, Last to Love), Jay Wilkison (Perfect Stranger, The Blacklist), and Norah Murphy (Kindred, The Exorcist:Believer).
Cox (Laverne Cox Productions), Wallace, and Dan Ewen (Dear Santa, Playing with Fire) are creators and executive producers of the series. Additionally, Ewen co-showruns the series with executive producer Simran Baidwan. Emmy winners Norman Lear (Act III Productions) and Brent Miller also serve as executive producers for the series. Paul Hilepo is a producer on the Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios film.
