The world watched as A$AP Rocky embraced Rihanna in a moment of pure relief after a California jury found him not guilty on Tuesday. Now, the global superstar is breaking her silence, sharing her reaction with fans in a heartfelt Instagram story. Read more inside.
“The Glory belongs to God and God alone,” Rihanna wrote on her personal account. “Thankful, humbled by his mercy!”
The verdict comes after a lengthy legal battle, in which Rocky (real name Rakim Mayers) was accused of two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm stemming from a 2021 shooting incident involving a former friend in Los Angeles. Throughout the trial, Rihanna stood by her partner’s side. The couple even brought their two young sons, RZA, 2, and Riot, 1, to court in a show of unwavering family support.
A Love Story Built on Friendship
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s relationship has been years in the making, first blossoming through music collaborations before evolving into something deeper. Their chemistry was evident back in 2011 when they worked together on a remix of Rihanna’s hit “Cockiness (Love It)” and performed the track at the MTV Video Music Awards. Rocky made headlines for grabbing Rihanna’s backside during the performance. The infamous moment had her team concerned, but ultimately, their bond only grew stronger.
The two continued to run in the same creative circles, with Rihanna even starring in Rocky’s “Fashion Killa” music video. She later revealed that they remained close friends before taking things to the next level in late 2019. In a 2024 Interview Magazine cover story, Rihanna reflected on how their love story accelerated during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“COVID sped up our relationship, which I felt like God knew we needed because we were going to start a family,” she shared.
Now, as parents of two and one of the most stylish power couples in entertainment, Rihanna and Rocky have continued to publicly support each other’s ventures, from music, fashion, business and even legal matters.
A$AP Rocky’s First Words After the Verdict
Shortly after his acquittal, A$AP Rocky took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a brief but telling message: “Don’t Be Dumb.” Fans immediately speculated that the post was both a reference to his delayed album of the same name and a response to the case that has loomed over him for years.
With the legal battle behind them, Rihanna and Rocky appear ready to move forward—stronger than ever. What a beautiful birthday present for the Bad Gal and her blossoming family.
