The moment was electric as the team rallied around her, with Rickey Smiley, Gary, Georgia Alfredas, and Special K all celebrating the release. “I hadn’t dropped a song in years,” Brat said excitedly. “Ten years to be exact. And I’ve never done it independently before. I paid for everything myself.”

The emotional connection runs deep—Brat shared that the song is a heartfelt tribute to her wife, Jesseca “Judy” Harris-Dupart. “She’s always working, always grinding. Sometimes I just want that Sunday to myself,” Brat said. “So, this song is inspired by her. It’s my way of saying, ‘Hey, I need a little of your time too.’”

Brat’s collaboration with Jessica Betts came together organically. While the couples were hanging out, Brat and Betts ended up in the studio and knocked the song out in under an hour. The chemistry was instant, and the result is a soulful, grown vibe that’s resonating with fans. “It bops,” as Alfredas put it.

Despite the excitement, Brat admitted to some nerves. “Anxiety is real,” she said. “You never know how people will respond. But what matters most is that I’m proud of it.” That self-confidence, she credits to the support of her wife and her own growth as an independent artist.

Gary, always ready with a one-liner, gushed that the track made him want to twirl like he was back in the club. “I don’t even move like that anymore, but this one got me up,” he joked.

Brat also opened up about how much has changed in the industry. “Back in the day, we’d hold onto songs and build them up. Now, you just drop it and go.” She talked about the shift from major label support to doing everything on her own, from promotion to production. “You gotta know your business. Get a lawyer. Read the fine print,” she advised up-and-coming artists.
