1. Damn Kamaal

Episode 7 began with a teary-eyed Tariq breaking the news to Diana that their baby didn’t make it. As Tariq tries to assure Diana that he’s not going anywhere and he’ll be there to take care of her, Diana mood flips. She reminds him that he told her that being in the game would protect them and mentions that he didn’t even want the baby. She then reveals that Felicia was the person who attacked her and this is what it looks like to be in the game. As Tariq tries to explain himself, Diana tells him to leave. Tariq runs into Monet as he’s walking out and has to break the same news to her that he did Diana. Despite her trying telling him that it was family business, Tariq told Monet that he was going to handle it. Monet and Diana then begin to talk about what happened to her. As she tells Monet that it was Felicia, Cane appears and questions who she is. Him and Monet get into a slight argument about him being there and Monet not being in control. Once Cane leaves, Monet informs Diana that she only didn’t want Cane involved with the Carter situation because it could get him killed. Back at Stansfield, Tariq calls Davis and requests that he gets him the addresses of the officers on Carter’s Task Force. As he hangs up the phone, Davis is summoned by Noma. Elsewhere, we saw the return of Rashad Tate as he paid respect to his now deceased brother Kamaal. Tate then questioned Carter about who it was that killed him, as he swore that whoever it was would have to pay. After Tate threatened to go to the press if he didn’t get any answers, Carter told him that ballistics tied the gun to a bust from the Russians, which was a obviously a lie. Before they left, Tate told Carter to make sure that he was the first call that he made when they find the killer.
2. Show Some Respect

Davis and Noma discuss the next steps in her securing government contracts which started with finding another corrupt congressman. Davis informed Noma that even if they found one, everything would be contingent on her U.S. citizenship. He then suggested that she installs a U.S. citizen as the majority owner of her company, emphasizing that it should be someone that she trusts and can control. Brayden is caught off guard as Tariq comes back to their room and grabs a gun. Tariq shares what happened to Diana and subsequently the baby. As Tariq continues to explain, there’s a knock on the door. When Brayden opens it, Stokley (member of No Lie) comes in and he isn’t happy. He tells Tariq and Brayden that they’re fired and that the group knows that they’re using them to sell drugs. Tariq interjects and tells Stokley that them knowing doesn’t change anything. As Stokley response hints that he would tell and get them expelled, Tariq charges at him. Brayden quickly breaks it up and Stokley angrily leaves their room. Tariq immediately starts yelling at Brayden and blaming him for what just took place. Realizing that Tariq won’t listen to him at the moment (especially because he’s been high), Brayden advises him to go and talk to someone he trusts before he goes and shoots a cop. Back at the police station, Carter, Felicia and Nico converse about Kamaal Tate’s death. Felicia shows little sympathy for him and says now they can go back to doing things how they normally do. Nico chimes in and says even if Kamaal wasn’t one of them, no one has the right to take out a cop like that. Carter agreed with him and added that she should treat him with respect. He continued and made it clear that they would answer any questions that Rashad Tate had for them. Felicia and Nico question if it actually was the Russians that killed Kamaal and note that it just doesn’t make any sense. Carter explains that if they don’t blame the Russians and take them out, they’ll be the ones who end up in trouble.

A flustered Carter then goes into his office and it seems like regret is setting in. Nico enters and alerts Carter about the Roman information that Dru shared with him. In jail, Dru and Roman come face to face and almost fight but are stopped by some guards who are nearby. Come to find out, Dru was marking Roman so that the guard could know who he was. Cane shows up as Noma’s seemingly right after they got done entertaining each other.

Once Davis left, Cane began to berate her about how she treats him after she called him her employee. In the midst of the conversation, he tells her that Effie wants out of the game. Noma reminds Cane that he’s supposed to be her problem solver but mentions how they still don’t know who is tipping off Carter. She accuses Effie of being the person but Cane quickly refutes it. Noma tells Cane to not come back until he and Effie find out who’s talking.

Although Diana just had gotten out of the hospital, she wasted no time in telling Monet that she wanted to get revenge on Felicia for what she did to her. Although Monet told Diana that she was going to see Carter later, Diana responded by saying she was doing it no matter what he had to say. Looking for guidance, Tariq made his way to see Tasha. She was clearly surprised to see Tariq but before they could really get into a conversation, an elated Yaz comes out of her room. When Monet and Carter finally meet, the matriarch of the Tejada family shares what Felicia did to Diana. Carter is taken back because he genuinely didn’t know. Carter quickly shoots down Monet’s idea of her taking out Felicia and tells her that he’ll handle it himself. He warns her that if she does anything, she’ll get sent to Rikers. Monet realizes that’s probably what he did to Dru. He assures her that Dru is fine and will be home soon. Monet delivers the news to Diana that Carter said it’s a no go but Diana is content on doing what she feels is right. She receives a call from Dru and updates him on everything that’s going on. Dru apologizes for not being there to protect her and promises to handle it as soon as he’s out. As she goes in Monet’s vault to grab a gun, she ignores her brother’s suggestion and tells Dru that Felicia is hers. Back at Tasha’s, Tariq breaks down everything that happened to Diana and shares his next steps to Tasha, who isn’t to thrilled to hear him say he’s about to make a move.

Cane met up with Effie and explained that once the two of them found out who it was that was snitching on Noma then she would be able to move to California. She tells Cane that there could be a record of who tipped off the police in the NYPD database. Effie tells Cane that she needs a cop’s laptop to get it done. This led them to Brayden, who was in his room doing coke, as he reflected on how he ruined their operation with No Lie. Cane and Effie tell Brayden that they need a favor from him. After Brayden voices how he feels about them and everything that’s happened between them, Effie and Cane ask him what it will take for him to help them out. Brayden responds and tells them that he wants the Course Correct knockoff. Although Cane is against the proposal, Effie agrees. As Brayden ponders whether or not he wants to do it or not, Cane tells him that it had to be done that day and to answer his phone when he called him. After listening to everything her son had to say, Tasha tried her best to explain how Diana was feeling. She emphasized that Diana didn’t want anyone to come save her, instead she wanted to feel in control and handle it herself. She continues by telling Tariq that she knows he wants to fix it but killing a cop isn’t it. She ends by telling him that he needs to be smart and strategic and that whatever the Tejadas do cannot come back on him because he has to get back to.

13. Bye Felicia

Carter catches up with Felicia outside of the police station and scolds her about what she did to Diana. Realizing that she could no longer hide anything, Felicia spills everything. The most important information that she offered was the video of Tariq and Brayden killing Zion. Although it pissed Carter off even more, he told her that he’d handle the situation. Little did either of them know that Diana was watching them and once Felicia pulled off, she followed her.

Elsewhere, Cane and Effie’s plan finally sprung into motion. Brayden and Effie showed up at what we found out was Nico’s house, and pretended that they had just been carjacked. As blood spilled down Brayden’s face, Effie told Maggie that they had already called for a cop to come get them and all they needed was to get Brayden cleaned up. Maggie noticed that Effie had blood on her too and suggested that she go clean herself up too. Effie turned the water on in the bathroom to buy herself some time as she actually went and got the information she was looking for off of Nico’s laptop. As Brayden continued to converse with Maggie, she realized that his story was starting to not make sense. This led her to go check on Effie in the bathroom. When she didn’t get a response (because Effie was in the next room), Brayden grabbed a knife and was going to make it look like a home invasion until Effie texted Cane. Cane arrived in just the knick of time and distracted Maggie from either opening the bathroom door or walking into the next room and catching her red handed. Cane put the perfect touch on the act by wearing Ramirez’s cop jacket when he came to pick up Effie and Brayden. They weren’t the only ones with a plan though. Carter and Nico got the drop on some of the Russians that got away during the raid and sneakily paid them a visit. Carter ended up shooting and killing one of them. In order to continue his lie to Tate (and his own team for that matter), he planted a gun on the dead Russian to make it look like he shot first. As he was doing this, Nico comes in at the tail end and seems a bit uncertain about what’s going on and if it’s the right guy who killed Kamaal. Carter reiterates the plan to Nico and makes it clear that they’re pinning it on the Russians. He then tells Nico that he’s going to call Rashad Tate and give him the news. Back in jail, Dru got an assist from the guards and was able to get out of his cell and into Roman’s without any problems. He choked Roman out with some sheets and made it look like he committed suicide. He wasn’t the only Tejada who ended up catching a body.
15. Trauma Bonding
Source:Starz
As Felicia came back inside her home from taking the trash out, she was shocked to see Diana waiting in the kitchen with a gun pointed at her. Felicia tries to explain her side and how it was only business but Diana didn’t want to hear any of it. The two begin to tussle after Diana’s gun is knocked out of her hand. Eventually, Diana gets the upper hand and smashes Felicia’s head with a skillet, instantly killing her. As she looked at Felicia’s dead body, Diana noticed kids toys in the hallway, making her realize that Felicia has a child that lives with her. A worried and anxious Diana calls Tariq and asks him to come meet her. Tate met up with Carter to take a glance at the “person responsible” for Kamaal’s death and spit on his dead body. Although Carter said he was positive that he had the right person and Tate acted as if he was satisfied with what he was hearing, you could tell that he knew something was up. Especially by the way he called Carter “his brother” when he told him he was forever in debt to him. Although they put in a lot of effort, Effie didn’t find any information on the Russian drug bust and an informant. Instead, she found out that the cops (Carter’s Task Force) was lying about what they recovered from the bust and that Carter’s whole team was dirty. Cane realized that this would be very valuable information to Noma and told Effie that he must tell her immediately. Before Cane leaves, Effie thanks him for everything he’s done for her. The two share a moment and Cane tells Effie that she can stay at his spot until he returns. As he leaves, Cane calls Monet and leaves a message alerting her of what he just found out and tells her that he hopes she isn’t mixed up with some dirty cops. Ironically enough, Monet got home and realized Diana wasn’t playing about what she wanted to do. When Monet seen her safe open and gun missing, she knew what time it was. At the same time, Dru was getting out of jail. He confronts Carter and tells him that he thought that they had a deal and hurting Diana wasn’t apart of it. As Carter arrogantly explains that he’ll always be in control, Monet texts Dru and shares with him that Diana is trying to handle the situation herself.
16. Carter Really Running Sh*t
Source:Starz
Tariq arrives at Felicia’s house and tries to give Diana advice on what her next move should be. Before he could even get too deep into it, Felicia’s son wakes up. The two of them tell the young child that they’re friends of Felicia and get him to go back to sleep after Diana reads him a bedtime story. Although Noma appreciated the information Cane brought her, she still wanted more and told him to keep following up on the leads he has. She also made it clear that Effie was to continue her dealings with the Russians. Cane then dropped a bombshell and asked Noma to marry him. He explained how it made perfect sense for her business and her citizenship situation. It was obvious that Cane was tired of being looked at as an employee and wanted to be a full partner. Apparently Noma really loved the idea because the two then shared an intimate moment. Effie was the odd person out as she sat on Cane’s couch lonely. As she finally decided to leave, she gets a phone call from mother that she ignores. Back at Felicia’s house, Diana and Tariq share a very important moment. Tariq consoles Diana by explaining what he did to Ray Ray after he killed Raina. He emphasized how he felt before and after he did what he did and how it has haunted him since. As the two bonded over a similar trauma, Monet walked in. As soon as she seen the scene, she made it clear that they had to get out of there ASAP. Before they could do that, Dru enters the house. Monet gets excited because she’s thinking that Dru is there to help but is completely thrown off when Carter walks in right behind Dru. Carter sees Felicia’s dead body and automatically assumes that Monet was the one that killed her. As he berates the group, he also lets them in on the fact that Dru told him everything. A confused Monet yells at Dru, wondering why he would ever agree to work with Carter. Dru explains that if he didn’t, Carter would have either killed them or sent them to jail. More than anything, it seemed that Carter was the most upset that Monet lied to him about it being Noma’s drugs that they stole. He framed it as Monet choosing the plug over her kids. The episode ends with Carter telling Tariq, Monet, Diana (and Dru) that they all would go down for Felicia’s murder if they didn’t help him get leverage on Noma. After Carter tells Tariq “Welcome to the team,” Tariq gives him a stare that only says one thing…..he has to go.
