Foxx shared more insight on his health complications in his latest Netflix special, What Had Happened Was… which was released on the streaming platform Dec. 10, 2024. He has since seemed to change his perspective on life overall. After making one of his first appearances back in the limelight, fans were pleased to see him celebrating his peers at the Golden Globes this year in good health and even better spirits.
“When you dream about what you want to be, you only dream about the good things,” Jamie reflected with Extra’s Bush. “The career, the house—you never dream tragedy. When tragedy happens in a real way, you need solid family and friends.”
Foxx also expressed deep gratitude for his daughters, Corinne Marie Foxx and Anelise Bishop, who were by his side throughout his recovery.
“The two ladies that are with me tonight held me down in a way that is hard to interpret in these settings,” Foxx shared. “You have to show up and really take over everything, and she [Corinne] did that, and that’s why I’m here.”
Now, Foxx sees life through a new lens. He described his refreshed perspective, saying, “You take a picture on your cell phone and you hit that filter, and it brightens up—that’s the way my life looks now.”
The actor emphasized that he has “no bad days” and no longer takes life for granted. Looking deeply on his journey, he revealed a powerful moment of connection with his faith.
“When it happened, I said, ‘If I am able to get past this and God spoke to me in a way, you know, when you’re Hollywood, you know, God sometimes slips away,” Foxx called God’s message to him. “When I spoke to him, he says, ‘I need you to sit here for a second, but when you get back out there, I ain’t telling you to be an angel, but you have a different thing.’”
With a newfound appreciation for life and family, Foxx continues to inspire, reminding everyone of the power of resilience and gratitude. So happy to see it!
