Kim Kardashian is keeping it real when it comes to her evolving relationship with her eldest daughter North West. The SKIMS mogul recently shared that her 11-year-old has gone from giving her the cold shoulder to being “obsessed” with her post-divorce from Kanye West.

During a candid conversation with her sister Kourtney Kardashian on an episode of The Kardashians, Kim reflected on the “craziest” shift in their dynamic.

“North is obsessed with me now and calls me with her friends,” she revealed. “Like, ‘Mom, I love you. You’re the best mom, I love you so much.’”

This newfound closeness is a stark contrast to the period when North was, as Kim put it, “mad at me” for about a year. Kourtney chimed in, noting that the tension between Kim and North seemed to align with the timing of Kim and Kanye’s split in 2021.

North’s Loyalty to Kanye

Kim has never shied away from acknowledging North’s strong connection to her dad. In past episodes, she shared how North would openly express her admiration for Kanye’s lifestyle, often comparing it to Kim’s.

“She’ll be like, ‘Dad is the best. He has it all figured out. He doesn’t have a nanny, he doesn’t have a chef, he doesn’t have security. He lives in an apartment,’” Kim recalled. North even got emotional, questioning why Kim didn’t also live in an apartment.

Kourtney could relate, admitting that her kids have made similar comments about their dad, Scott Disick.

“They’ll be like, ‘Dad has the best house, your house sucks. His vibe is better,’” Kourtney said, emphasizing how the more hands-on parent often bears the brunt of a child’s frustration.

Lessons in Patience and Growth

Despite the ups and downs, Kim sees North as one of her greatest teachers.

“Kourtney always says that North is my lesson on this planet,” she admitted. “I’m supposed to learn even more about patience—she teaches me patience. She has taught me a lot about life.”

Through it all, Kim remains focused on ensuring that all four of her kids—North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm—feel loved and supported. She has also been open about balancing career and motherhood, crediting her own mother, Kris Jenner, for showing her how to juggle it all.

As North steps into her preteen years, it’s appears her relationship to Kim is ever-evolving, filled with challenges, growth, and, ultimately, unconditional love.
