A study conducted by QR Code Generator analyzed monthly Google searches to identify the most impactful movie characters of the year. This data offers insight into which onscreen personas resonated most deeply, whether through nostalgia, fresh narratives, or cultural conversation.
Topping the list is Beetlejuice, who enjoyed a massive revival with Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. The mischievous demon led the rankings with an impressive 2.3 million average monthly searches, showing the enduring appeal of this spooky classic.
Marvel fans catapulted Deadpool & Wolverine stars Deadpool and Wolverine into second and third places with 2 million and 986,000 searches, respectively. Their on-screen chemistry and viral moments made them unforgettable in 2024.
In fourth place is the Monster King himself, Godzilla, with 762,000 searches. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empireshowcased his larger-than-life presence, drawing global attention.
Furiosa, the fearless warrior from Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, ranked fifth with 691,000 searches, signaling audiences’ excitement for her bold backstory. Meanwhile, Moana, with her long-awaited return in Moana 2, earned sixth place and 614,000 searches.
Rounding out the top ten are Venom (Venom: The Last Dance), Joker (Joker: Folie à Deux), Po (Kung Fu Panda 4), and Argylle (Argylle), demonstrating the diverse range of genres and styles that captivated moviegoers.
The study, which utilized Ahrefs Keywords Explorer, analyzed Google search volumes over the past 12 months, calculating data to rank characters based on average monthly search volume. This method highlights the power of nostalgia, franchise loyalty, and even divisive opinions in shaping cultural relevance.
