Before it’s global release, Netflix released the highly anticipated trailer for the comedy horror It’s What Inside this week (September 10th). Click inside to check it out!
In the film, a group of friends gather for a pre-wedding party that descends into an existential nightmare when an estranged friend arrives with a mysterious game that awakens long-hidden secrets, desires, and grudges.
It’s What Inside stars Brittany O’Grady (Star, The White Lotus, The Consultant), James Morosini (Foursome, The Sex Lives of College Girls, I Love My Dad), Gavin Leatherwood (Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, The Sex Lives of College Girls) Nina Bloomgarden (Jane, Good Girl Jane, The Resort), Alycia Debnam-Carey (Into the Storm, The 100, Fear the Walking Dead), Reina Hardesty, Devon Terrell (Barry, Rap Sh!t), and David Thompson (A Christmas Story 2, Fear Street Part One: 1994, Gotham).
The film was written and directed by Los Angeles native Greg Jardin. William Rosenfeld, Kate Andrews, Jason Baum, and Raúl Domingo served as producers on the film while Colman Domingo, Ulf Ek, and Robert Kapp took on executive producer responsibilities.
Speaking on the film, Jardin said “The central theme that I kept coming back to really revolves around artificial intimacy, that is, how we’ve all become reliant on screens for not only our self-worth, but for our general sense of how we connect with one another on a romantic level. So, in this case, we focus on a relationship in crisis, where both members of the relationship have consumed such a high amount of online artifice, that they each have issues connecting with one another because their collective values have been so warped.”
It’s What Inside had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 19th, 2024. Not too long after, Netflix acquired worldwide distribution rights to the film for $17 million in the largest deal made at that edition of the festival. It also screened at South by Southwest in March. The film will be released on Netflix on October 4th. While we wait, check out the film’s official trailer and some first look photos from it!
