Camille Rose Founder & CEO Janell Stephens joined forces with Trell Thomas of Black Excellence Brunch for a memorable event honoring actress, director and activist Sanaa Lathan during the Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival. This year’s Black Excellence Brunch, powered by Camille Rose, paid tribute to the incredible entertainer, Sanaa Lathan last Friday, Aug. 9.The event brought together nearly 200 attendees, including cultural icons like Uzo Aduba, Sylvia Obell, and Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, all under one roof to honor the legacy and achievements of Black excellence. The atmosphere was electric, filled with inspiration and a deep sense of community.

The Black Excellence Brunch isn’t just an event, but it’s a movement. Founded by Thomas, this series reimagines the tradition of Sunday dinners, transforming them into a platform where Black culture, history, and excellence are celebrated in all their forms. What started as a local gathering has grown into a global celebration, from the iconic landscapes of Martha’s Vineyard to the vibrant streets of Ghana. Each brunch serves as a powerful reminder of our community’s enduring legacy, honoring the past while inspiring the future.

Stephens’ involvement in this year’s brunch highlights the importance of unity and celebration within the Black community.
