It always sucks when a show that we’re encapsulated by gets canceled. Oftentimes the decision comes as a surprise to fans resulting in a negative response to those responsible. We can all think of a series that was canceled. Which ones were the people the most upset about though? New data has revealed the answers to us.
After collecting information from IMDb, ranker.com, decider.com and What’s on Netflix, casino comparison website InstantCasinos compiled a list of 209 shows that were not renewed by either Netflix or Prime Video. Google searches (over the last 12 months) around each show’s cancellation were analyzed, including questions such as “will there be another season of [show]?” and “has [show] been canceled?”
1. Shadow and Bone

Average Monthly Google Searches: 3,578.3
Shadow and Bone ranks first as the show fans are most disappointed about losing, with an average of 3,578 Google searches per month.
First premiering on Netflix in 2021, Shadow and Bone follows an orphan named Alina Starkov as she discovers she can change the fate of the war-torn world she lives in.
The show was likely canceled due to its lower viewing figures after the first season ended. Critics argued that the second season was “overstuffed” with content, making episodes hard to follow and diluting key storylines.
2. Raising Dion

Average Monthly Google Searches: 1,318.3
Raising Dion is second, with an average of 1,318 monthly Google searches. The Netflix series began in 2019 and features a widowed mom as she manages her young son’s superpowers, unpack their origin, and investigates her husband’s death.
When the cancellation was announced after the second season, the cast took to social media to share their thoughts, with lead actress Alisha Wainwright claiming she was ‘heartbroken’ that the show wasn’t moving forward.
3. Lockwood & Co.

In third is Lockwood & Co. with an average of 925.8 monthly searches. In a ghost-riddled London where only children can see the paranormal, three teens work together to uncover the truth about their world and fight corporations determined to stop them.
Released in early 2023, the show was canceled after one season. According to Variety, the viewing numbers failed to meet the Netflix targets needed for a second season.
4. The Order

The Order is fourth, averaging 795 Google searches each month. Starring Jake Manley and Sarah Grey, The Order is a horror drama that sees college student Jack Morton join the ‘Hermetic Order of the Blue Rose’ – a secret society that practices magic.
In November 2020, the show was frustratingly canceled after its second season on a cliffhanger ending that determined the fate of a major character in the series.
5. 1899

In fifth is 1899, with an average of 780 Google searches each month. In this multilingual science fiction series, mysterious events change the course of an immigrant ship headed for New York.
Although the show captivated audiences with the first few episodes, 1899 was canceled after one season. According to Digital i, the series had a completion rate of just 32% – but 50% is the usual target for a renewal.
6. Travelers

Travelers ranks sixth, with an average of 778 Google searches monthly. The sci-fi series see operatives have their consciousness sent to the future to prevent a global crisis, was first canceled by its original network Showcase after season two. Netflix then bought the show for a third season – which would end up being its last.
7. Daredevil

Daredevil is seventh, with an average of 764.2 monthly searches. In 2018, Netflix canceled the show, along with many others in the Marvel franchise. They were subsequently removed from the streaming platform in 2022 and added to Disney+.
8. Inside Job

In eighth is Inside Job, averaging 685 Google searches a month. The animated adult-oriented workplace series was originally given the green light for renewal on Netflix after the success of the show’s first part. However, this was then revoked after the second half of the first season was released.
9. The OA

Ninth is The OA; the show has an average of 646.7 monthly Google searches. Canceled after two seasons on a mind-bending cliff hanger, Netflix received backlash from fans, with one going as far as a hunger strike to try and get a third series.
10. Santa Clarita Diet

Average Monthly Google Searches: 633.3
Santa Clarita Diet rounds off the top ten, with 633.3 average searches each month. Another cliffhanger cancellation that angered fans, Santa Clarita Diet saw its three-season run end in 2019.
