With eyes on their business, Tariq and Brayden must find a way to get back in Noma’s good graces. Monet fights to get her family from under Carter’s thumb. Tasked with doing the impossible, Diana is forced with a dilemma: stepping further into the game than she’s ever gone before, or risk her family’s safety.
1. A Meeting Of The Minds
Source:Starz
The episode begins with Dru spying on Carter, in an attempt to get information for Monet. As he was reporting what he seen (pretty much nothing) back to his mother, he is surprised when he gets a text from someone saying “Stop following me.” Dru then notices Carter right behind his car, making him realize that Carter sent the text and is on to him. Meanwhile, Diana and Monet are out shopping for the baby and discussing the future. Monet is irritated when she receives a call from Carter and ends up declining it. Her phone rings again a few minutes later and this time it’s Dru, which prompts the two to leave. Elsewhere, Tariq and Brayden meet with Noma and Cane. Tariq and Brayden reveal that they have evidence of Noma’s criminal dealings and will expose it (to the cops and to Anya) if she doesn’t agree to leave them alone or if anything happens to them. Noma realizes that she’s in a tough spot and basically blows the offer off.
2. Apex Predators

Although she wants to handle Tariq and Brayden, she tells Cane that she needs to focus on her meeting with Wiley Adams. She orders Cane to find out who it was that stole her product. Cane tells her that he needs to be at the meeting with her and he can get the answers she’s looking for afterwards. Tariq explains to Brayden that in order for them to become the apex predators, they must control every aspect of the game from the distributor to the supplier. Back at the Tejada home, Dru hips Monet that Carter is on to them. Before he can get too deep into it, Carter, Felicia Lewis and Nico Halston and a couple other Task Force members rush into the house. Carter notes that Monet didn’t answer his call earlier and begins to question her about numerous things including his cut from the warehouse he let them steal from, who they stole from and who her supplier was. Carter holds a gun to Diana in attempt to get Monet to fess up to who she stole the drugs from. She again says that she doesn’t know. Carter gets a text informing him that Zay (the kid he shot in the last episode) was still alive and in the downtown jail infirmary. Carter’s emphasizes to Monet that he wants a name. Before they leave, Felicia takes Diana’s baby gifts and breaks the globe that she brought while out shopping earlier. Also, the Task Force randomly ups and arrests Dru. Diana lets Monet know that she can’t raise a baby and be working for the NYPD at the same time.
3. RIP Wiley Adams

Monet and Cane’s meeting with Wiley Adams is interrupted in the absolute worst way. Zion and his men do a drive by on the restaurant that they’re meeting at that ends up taking the life of Wiley Adams and seemingly ruining Noma’s deal. Nico takes a visit to the jail that Dru is being held in and gives him a mission. He lets him know that Zay survived and that he has 24 hours to take him out, and if he doesn’t Diana and Monet would be in trouble. Nico gives Dru a phone and tells him to hit him up when it’s done. Back at her spot, Noma berated Cane for what was done to Wiley Adams. She blamed him for getting into a pissing contest with Zion. She ordered him to kill Zion. In the heat of their discussion, Effie walks in and Noma gives her a job. Effie is told to work her magic with the Russians and get them to buy more product. At the police station, Carter and Felicia call Zion in hopes of getting some answers on why he killed a government official. Carter emphasizes that what he did strictly breaks their agreement. Zion didn’t have much to say for himself but does threaten to go public with their agreement if Carter doesn’t continue protecting him. He then tells Carter that he needs a place to lay low, to which Carter obliges. When the phone conversation ends, Carter tells Felicia that she needs to handle Zion quietly and discreetly because they can’t have him talking, especially with the IAB already snooping around.
4. Trying Her Best

Realizing that Carter’s hunt will eventually lead to Noma, Monet makes her way to Cane’s to warn him that he should distance himself a bit from Noma. Cane doesn’t want to hear it and basically says Monet is just mad because Noma retired her. Anya and Tariq share a very interesting conversation in his dorm room. In the midst of their talk, Anya shares that Noma has a brother that lives in Nigeria but she (Noma) won’t let her visit. While on her way to work on the Zion situation, Felicia gets a call from IAB requesting that she come in and discuss complaints she’s gotten over excessive force. A flustered Felicia starts to freak out a bit and does some coke to try and take the edge off. This led her back to the Tejada residence once again. Although she was looking for Monet, Felicia ran into Diana and pushed the job Carter gave her off on the youngest of the Tejada clan. Diana refuses to do the job at first but once Felicia threatens that Dru will be killed in jail if she doesn’t, she understands that she doesn’t have much of a choice.
5. Ol’ Reliable Davis

She decides to tell Tariq, who was working his job at the candy shop. While she’s trying to figure out if she can trust Tariq or not, Diana rushes to the bathroom to avoid throwing up. Ironically enough, Effie witnesses the whole interaction and makes her way over to Tariq. She shares that she knows Diana is pregnant and also gives her opinion on them having a baby. She tells Tariq (and eventually Diana when she gets back) that those two having a baby together is a huge mistake. After some snarky remarks between the two sides, Diana finally tells Tariq what she came to tell him. Tariq immediately takes the information he got from Diana to Davis. Davis informs Tariq that Zion shot at Noma and killed a government official earlier in the week so he’s racking up enemies by the day. At that moment, Tariq realized that what Diana told him was pretty much a gift and he could kill Zion to get back good with Noma. Someone who wasn’t good was Scoot, the brother of Zay. He approached Cane with a gun, trying to discuss his brother’s whereabouts. Scoot said that the streets were saying the last time they saw him, he was about to do a job with/for the Tejada family. Cane easily took the gun from him and explained that he had nothing to do with it.
6. Michael Ealy Is Killing This Role

Monet and Carter end up meeting at Monet’s bar. Monet once again lies to Carter and tells him that the drugs they stole were Vadim’s. Carter notes that he just seized drugs from him and questions Monet on how he got a new supplier so fast. Monet tells him that she doesn’t know and tries to switch the topic to Dru. Carter tells her that Dru will be home soon. Monet warns Carter that it won’t end well if he does her kids wrong. Carter fires back by telling Monet that threatening an officer of the law is a felony. The conversation ends with both of them basically saying they don’t give a f-ck. Speaking of Dru, it was time for his plan to come to fruition. He starts a fight with Roman (Zion’s associate who got arrested by Carter and Kamaal Tate earlier in the season) that gets him thrown into the infirmary. At the perfect time, he takes his opportunity and suffocates Zay to death. Using the information Monet provided, Carter and his Task Force raid Vadim’s spot just as him and Effie were discussing him buying more product. It turns into a shootout between the Russians and the Task Force as Effie plays dead under a shot body. She gets up and tries to escape but is met by an officer who holds her at gunpoint. The cop is then shot by one of the Russians, who lets Effie leave, but not with the bag of money. The same Russian who let Effie go is then shot and killed by Nico. He takes the bag and leaves the scene. A disturbed Kamaal Tate watched the whole thing transpire. As Nico counted the money outside, he gets a call from Dru, alerting him that the job was done. Dru wasn’t done there though. He hipped Nico how Roman was planning to tell on their Task Force so that he could get out of jail. He uses the information to make a negotiation with Nico. Quite simply, if Dru took care of Roman for them, he wanted to be put a position of power (he said a lieutenant specifically), where he had protection and access. He also added that they must leave Diana and Monet alone. Nico assures Dru that he’ll talk to Carter about it.

8. Son Knows Best?
Source:Starz
While one Tejada was trying to get out of a situation, his brother was trying to get to the bottom of another. Cane visits Monet and asks her about Zay, his whereabouts, and Monet’s stolen shipments. In normal Monet fashion, Monet lies and tells Cane that she doesn’t have anything to do with it. Cane knows she’s lying but lets it fly as he leaves. We then see Cane and Noma meeting up with Tariq and Davis. Tariq proposes that he take out Zion for Noma in exchange for being able to get back in business with her. She accepts but tells him that if he doesn’t do it by the end of the day, she’ll kill him and Zion.

Tariq knows that he probably can’t take Zion out alone so he heads to the No Lie show to get Brayden. He is taken back when he gets there and a high Brayden is on stage messing up the show. Tariq gets him down and explains the situation at hand to him. Tariq sees Anya at the show but tells her that he has to leave to handle some business. The boys text Zion and let him know they needed a re-up but that might’ve tipped him off as to what they were trying to do. As soon as they got there and knocked on the door, Zion opened it up, pulled Brayden in and start beating the duo up. Zion was dominating the fight and almost choked Tariq out until Brayden helped. Brayden ends up holding Zion long enough for Tariq to severely stab him. As he laid on the ground, Zion mentions that Carter must have them working for him now. Tariq responds by saying he doesn’t work for anyone then shoots Zion.

Afterwards, Tariq calls Diana to let her know that the situation is handled. They decide to meet at a cookie store named Hollie’s so that they can talk. Davis informs Cane that Zion is dead and Cane relays the message to Noma. He also lies and tells her that he was right about Zion being the one who stole her drugs, even though deep down he knew it was Monet. Noma then tells Cane that Davis’ Task Force raided Vadim and his people and they aren’t happy. The first thing Cane thought about was if Effie was alright. Nico makes his way back to the police station and gives Felicia a cut of the money he took from the Russians. He warns her to be careful because they can’t have too much attention brought on to them with the IAB around or it might blow up their operation. This leads her to look at the camera footage of the safe house was staying in. Felicia watches the video and sees Tariq and Brayden kill Zion, instead of Diana, which infuriates her.
12. The Love Story We Didn’t Know We Needed
Source:Starz
Cane visits Effie at Stansfield and finds out that the near death experience has her questioning whether she still wants or needs to be in the game.
13. Cold Cold World
Source:Starz
As Diana is approaching Hollie’s, Felicia catches up to her and immediately starts snapping on her for not taking care of Zion herself. Diana tells her that she didn’t tell Tariq anything about them, their Task Force or what they have going. The conversation becomes intense and the two women get into a physical altercation. Felicia viciously beats Diana in an alley, kicking her multiple times in the stomach once she was on the ground. She then leaves Diana there for dead. In a disclosed location Kamaal meets with Carter to let him know what he witnessed Nico do earlier in the episode. He put all the pieces together and tries to convince Carter that they should turn him in. Carter reveals that they’re all in on it and basically offers Kamaal a chance to come to the dark side. As Tate tried to think (although we know he wasn’t going to fold), Carter took out his gun and killed his fellow officer. Tariq arrives at Hollie’s, only to find Diana not there. When he calls her phone, he hears it ringing in the alley and quickly rushes over. He sees the state that she’s in and an emotional Tariq immediately calls for help.
