Last week (August 14th), Hulu released the official trailer for the first season of their upcoming sport anthology series American Sports Story. Click inside to check out a preview that will document the life of former NFL player Aaron Hernandez.
The first installment of American Sports Story is based on the podcast Gladiator: Aaron Hernandez and Football Inc. from The Boston Globe and Wondery. The 10-episode limited series charts the rise and fall of NFL superstar Aaron Hernandez and explores the disparate strands of his identity, his family, his career, his suicide and their legacy in sports and American culture.
American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez stars Josh Andrés Rivera (West Side Story, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes) as Aaron Hernandez, Jaylen Barron (Shameless, Blindspotting) as Shayanna Jenkins, Lindsay Mendez (All Rise) as Tanya Singleton, Ean Castellanos as DJ Hernandez, Tammy Blanchard (Life with Judy Harland: Me and My Shadows, The Good Shepherd) as Terri Hernandez, Tony Yazbeck (On the Town) as Urban Meyer, Patrick Schwarzenegger (Gen V) as Tim Tebow, Thomas Sadoski (The Newsroom, Life in Pieces) as Brian Murphy, Jake Cannavale (Nurse Jackie, The Mandalorian) as “Chris” and Norbert Leo Butz (Bloodline, Mercy Street) as Bill Belichick.
The series is executive produced by Ryan Murphy, Stuart Zicherman, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Alexis Martin Woodall, Eric Kovtun, Scott Robertson and Carl Franklin. Hernan Lopez and Marshall Lewy of Wondery also serve as executive producers alongside Linda Pizzuti Henry and Ira Napoliello of The Boston Globe. The series is produced by 20th Television.
FX’s new limited series will premiere on Tuesday, Septembr 17th at 10 p.m. ET/PT on the network and stream the next day on Hulu. In the meantime, check out the official trailer below!
