The Roots are bringing their legendary Picnic experience to the Hollywood Bowl in 2025 with an electrifying new theme: A Roots Picnic Experience: Class of ’95. Read more and find out how to purchase tickets inside.
Announced today (Dec. 9), the one-night-only event will take place on June 8, 2025, celebrating the defining year of 1995 in hip-hop with a star-studded lineup hosted by Live Nation Urban and the LA Philharmonic.
Headlining the evening are The Roots themselves, who will also serve as the backing band for performances by Method Man & Redman, Lil’ Kim, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, E-40, Raekwon, DJ Quik, Goodie Mob, and Havoc of Mobb Deep. Additional surprise guests are promised, making this a must-see event for hip-hop fans.
This event follows last summer’s sold-out Roots Picnic: Hip-Hop is the Love of My Life, which marked The Roots’ first West Coast expansion. That show featured hip-hop icons like Queen Latifah and Common, and its success solidified The Roots’ Picnic series as a cornerstone of the genre. This year’s focus on 1995 pays tribute to a pivotal era in hip-hop, coinciding with The Roots’ breakthrough album Do You Want More?!!!??!, which launched their rise to fame.
“Those were the days of creativity at both regional and global levels,” Questlove reflected on the significance of the year 1995 in a statement. “Producing classic albums and countless new ideas about art.”
Since its inception in 2007, The Roots Picnic has become a cultural phenomenon, uniting music and community with dynamic lineups spanning genres and generations. This year’s Class of ’95 theme promises to be no exception, offering a nostalgic yet fresh celebration of hip-hop’s rich history.
