This Sunday (March 2nd), the entertainment world will converge in Los Angeles at the Dolby Theater for the 97th Academy Awards. During the gala, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will present Oscars in 23 categories, honoring films released in 2024. Legendary comedian Conan O’Brien will host the prestigious award show for the first time. Competition is once again stiff as films including Dune: Part Two, A Complete Unknown, Wicked, Emilia Pérez and many more all fight for the night’s top honors. Every year, the Oscars provides a historic night for fans of film and this year promises to be no different. Timothée Chalamaet, Cynthia Erivo, Colman Domingo, Sebastian Stan and Fernanda Torres are just a few of the nominees looking to etch their names into the history books. Speaking of the history of the Oscars, there are countless records that have been set over the years. This year, over 30 of those could potentially be broken. 1. Cynthia Erivo (Wicked)

- Could become the youngest person to achieve a competitive EGOT status, thus winning an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony, at the age of 38 – she won her Tony for Best Actress in a Musical for “The Color Purple”, a Grammy in the Best Musical Theatre Album category with “The Color Purple” cast & a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Musical Performance in a Daytime Program, so the Oscar is the only award she is missing to become an EGOT. As of today, the record for the youngest competitive EGOT winner is held by songwriter Robert Lopez, who completed his EGOT at the age of 39

- It could tie or break the record for the most Oscars won by a non English-speaking film in one night – the record is currently held by 4 films that managed to win 4 Oscars each: “Fanny and Alexander”, “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”, “Parasite” & “All Quiet On The Western Front”
