Timothée Chalamet is set to make history on “Saturday Night Live,” joining a select group of performers to serve as both host and musical guest on the same night. Read more about his historic appearance inside.

Chalamet’s rare dual role will take place on Jan. 25, marking his return to Studio 8H at 30 Rockefeller Plaza. In the show’s 50-year history, only 41 people have achieved this feat. The list includes legends like Paul Simon, Ray Charles, Britney Spears, and Taylor Swift—most of whom are professional musicians.

Timothée will become only the fifth person to earn the honor without being primarily known as a singer, following in the footsteps of Lily Tomlin (1975, 1983), Desi Arnaz (1976), Gary Busey (1979), and Deion Sanders (1995).

The timing couldn’t be more perfect for the actor, who stars as Bob Dylan in the critically acclaimed drama A Complete Unknown. The film showcases Chalamet’s impressive vocal chops as he performs Dylan’s iconic songs, making him an ideal choice for the musical spotlight on “SNL.”

Fans can expect him to perform covers of Dylan classics like “Blowin’ in the Wind” or “Like a Rolling Stone.” Chalamet’s “SNL” appearance also comes amid significant Oscar buzz. With nominations announced on Jan. 17, he’s vying for the Best Actor award. If he wins, the 29-year-old will become the youngest recipient in history, narrowly beating Adrien Brody’s record by just a few days.

Beyond his acting prowess, Chalamet’s deep appreciation for music (particularly rap) has been highlighted a lot online, and fans are eager to see how he’ll blend his artistic sensibilities into the show. His previous “SNL” appearance in 2020, where he delivered a memorable skit as a wannabe SoundCloud rapper, has definitely heightened expectations for his return.

This milestone spotlights Chalamet’s versatility as both an actor and performer, cementing his status as one of Hollywood’s brightest stars. Whether delivering Dylan’s soulful lyrics or showcasing his comedic flair, Chalamet’s dual-duty episode is sure to be a night to remember.
