“I want to write an opera, and I want to write an album for the tuba,” Solange revealed on the episode published six days ago.
This announcement feels like a bold departure from her previous works, such as the Grammy award-winning album A Seat at the Table and the experimental When I Get Home. Though seemingly random, Solange’s interest in the tuba stems from its profound resonance. She describes it as sounding “like what the gut feels like,” emphasizing its deep, soulful tones that resonate with her artistic vision.
Despite her enthusiasm, Solange acknowledges the unconventional nature of these projects, admitting, “Those are going to take incredible leaps of faith. Mainly because I know that that’s not necessarily what people are waiting for.” Nevertheless, she remains committed to exploring new artistic territories, challenging both herself and her audience.
Solange’s venture into opera and tuba compositions reflects her ongoing dedication to pushing creative boundaries and embracing multidisciplinary art forms. Similar to her journey as the composer for the New York ballet in 2022, Solange has no issue pivoting in the world of art. As she embarks on these ambitious projects, fans eagerly anticipate the innovative works that will emerge from her unique artistic journey.
