Zootopia 2 offers fans the first look at the highly anticipated sequel to the 2016 Academy Award-winning hit. The trailer teases the return of fan-favorite rookie cop duo Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman), along with the debut of a slippery new ally: a mysterious pit viper named Gary De’Snake, voiced by Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan.
Set to hit theaters on November 26, Zootopia 2 follows Judy and Nick as they’re pulled into a twisting new mystery that threatens to unravel the city they’ve sworn to protect. When Gary De’Snake slithers into town and causes unexpected chaos, the pair must go undercover through new — and wildly unexpected — districts of Zootopia. The trailer offers glimpses of never-before-seen corners of the city, including marshlands for semi-aquatic mammals and sprawling desert dunes.
Director and writer Jared Bush promises the sequel will expand the world fans fell in love with.
“We are beyond excited to welcome everyone back to the outrageous, expansive animal metropolis of Zootopia,” Bush said. “Our heroes will meet a lot of new friends and discover more about themselves — and a brand-new snake in town.”
Co-director Byron Howard also revealed a new original track featured in the teaser. The upbeat song, “ZUTU,” comes courtesy of LEMEEENS, a techno lemming group fresh off their tour with superstar Gazelle (voiced again by Shakira). The energetic track underscores the excitement and vibrant pace of the sequel.
Alongside returning cast members, the voice lineup for Zootopia 2 includes Fortune Feimster, Quinta Brunson, and Shakira. With its mix of new characters, exotic locations, and a fresh mystery, this sequel is shaping up to be another Disney classic.
