A protégé of R.A. the Rugged Man following his victory in the Definition of a Rap Flow contest, the artist has consistently proven his mettle in the underground scene. Following his Duck Down Music Inc.-backed debut A-F-R-O Polo, produced by Marco Polo, he has built a reputation for sharp lyricism and relentless output, with projects like The Drawing Board, The Bad & the Ugly: The Goods Always Die First, and Crimson Fury cementing his status.

On Blood Rain, the artist leans into a more experimental and darker aesthetic. The self-produced track “No H.E. Double Hockey Sticks” sets the tone, exploring themes of faith and morality, while “The Hangman” utilizes a symphonic boom-bap soundscape to assert his dominance. The project also features “Highway Robbery,” a collaboration with 4-Ize, and “No Talk,” which highlights his lyrical legitimacy.

The latter half of the EP shifts gears with “Saints Row,” which adopts a funk-infused production style, while “Antagonist” utilizes an organ flip to delve into themes of personal evolution and villainy. “Burn It Up” maintains a ghostly, atmospheric boom-bap flare, leading into the title track, which offers a glimmer of hope for brighter days ahead.

While fans await his full-length debut, Blood Rain serves as a compelling 20-minute excursion into the artist’s psyche. Compared to his earlier work, the production here is notably darker and more experimental, showcasing a more aggressive delivery that keeps the listener engaged throughout.
