The fourth extended play from Los Angeles, California emcee Hexxx has finally arrived. Marking a decade since the release of his debut EP, Samhain, Hexxx has steadily built a reputation for his distinct brand of West Coast wicked shit. Following his sophomore effort Tales of a Cursed G and last summer’s Suerte, the artist returns with Endless Night, a project that serves as an audio exploration of his current headspace.
The project opens with “Rock, Paper, Cemetery,” which reemerges from the dusk to address the hereditary nature of his craft, while “Crash Out” pivots to a trap-influenced soundscape, finding the artist grappling with internal ghosts. Following an interlude, “The Real” highlights his commitment to independence, offering a nod to those who have remained by his side. The atmosphere shifts into darker territory on “Freight Train,” capturing a sense of relentless momentum.
The latter half of the EP maintains this intensity. After the “Ghost Dog” interlude, “Westside Samurai” continues the signature West Coast wicked aesthetic, reflecting on the personal toll required to achieve his current level of success. “Loco” brings a gritty, ratchet-inspired energy, while “Entrance Theme” adopts a Memphis-inspired atmosphere dedicated to his peers. The project concludes with “Friday,” a jazzy, celebratory anthem that serves as a perfect weekend closer.
Despite a year-long hiatus from touring, Hexxx utilized 2025 to refine his craft, aiming to make Endless Night his most significant work to date. The production is remarkably versatile, spanning jazz rap, ratchet, and Memphis-influenced beats, providing a cohesive backdrop for his lyrical inquiries. Ultimately, the project succeeds as a testament to his growth as an artist.
