She hones her scatterbrained pop into effervescent, hook-filled records that flirt with weighty emotions. The new tracks are part of the Refreshing EP.

With pop-rock and alt-rock sounds swaying her every move, the South Carolina artist Ren Claire conjures up the right emotions with her wide array of musical knowledge. Ren started playing the cello in 5th grade and fell in love with the deep, soft, and comforting tones.

The tune is commanding in “Refresh Me,” as it follows the notes from the start managing every move. Her confident character adds marks of surreal reality that just makes every track all the more exciting.
