To celebrate its one-thousandth episode, NPR’s ‘Tiny Desk’ presents an electrifying live performance from the legendary multiple award-winning musician Angélique Kidjo. At one point, she brings out fellow African artist Sampa the Great from Zambia for their collaboration titled ‘Free & Equal’.

Angélique Kidjo said, “I want to thank Tiny Desk for forecasting so many different talents from around the world. We need different spaces, because this world is just shrinking. This song and this young girl that’s coming from my continent is an example of what we can do when we all come together.”

Watch the GRAMMY Award-winning global icon perform songs from her album ‘Mother Nature’, ‘Afirika’, and ‘Pata Pata’ (in tribute to Miriam Makeba, her late friend and mentor) in its entirety below.
