The word visionary is thrown around a lot in the music sphere with a plethora of artists getting labeled it every month, but the 19 year old L.A based musician Bennett Coast is the living embodiment of this word with his multifaceted skillset all adding to his identity as an artist. He doesn’t craft sonic world’s, he crafts sonic universes with him being a graphic designer, photographer and film maker, as well as a musician, he’s able to see his vision from all angles to create a majestic piece that captures his divinely introspective story driven narrative. His music videos are prime examples of this with each one of them being like a mini feature film, expect to see him name at the Oscar’s in the future. His artistry is on another level, there’s no question about it.
Feeling like it’s come straight from an A24 coming of age movie directed by Greta Gerwig, the track Deep End is as authentic as it is timeless. Wrapped in nostalgic melancholia, his pensive lyrics are pure poetry that capture the beauty behind the sadness and sends chills dancing across my spine. A tsunami of emotion will come cascading down upon you with his breathtaking vocal bringing the lyrics to life in unfathomable ways that will have you reaching for the tissues and feeling like you’re the main character in your own movie. This isn’t just music, this a full art piece that can only be described as a masterpiece.
