Pop Smoke’s label enlists Pop Smoke’s friend Bouba Savage and a friend to replicate the brotherhood between late Brooklyn legend Pop Smoke and Quavo. Living lavish and having a good time were some things indicative to who Pop Smoke was, and the following plays out in the visual. Much like The Notorious BIG’s ‘Sky’s the Limit’ video treatment, the director Oliver Cannon pays homage. If you aren’t familiar with Bouba Savage, he is a teenage recording artist from Conakry, Guinea in West Africa.
The video comes ahead of a planned Pop Smoke tribute performance at BET Awards. Quavo, who seemed to click and bond with Pop Smoke before his untimely death, will perform ‘Aim for the Moon’ and ‘Shake the Room’ in his honour. According to the official press release, “The video is a portrayal of a young kids dream lifestyle, something Pop always wanted to inspire through his music. Before his passing, Pop established the Shoot For The Stars Foundation (in a social media post featuring Bouba) for his future philanthropic projects, which his team and mother are executing in his memory. Proceeds from this Summer’s Pop Smoke capsule collection with Palm Angels were recently used to donate over $100,000 to Brooklyn and Canarsie public schools through The Fund for Public Schools, with an additional $50,000 going to the Know Your Rights campaign via efforts from Palm Angels, Victor Victor Foundation and the Shoot For Your Stars Foundation.”
