I often take enjoyment from predicting a song’s future commercial journey during its early stages of release and whilst I have definitely made a few wrong judgments, I am confident to say that I think Dee Holt’s latest record ‘Nobody Like You’ will take over TikTok shortly after its release. Dee has crafted an infectious plucky guitar-driven, bedroom-pop track centred about openly admitting to her new lover that she is going to ‘fuck’ up this relationship, so if anything you might as well enjoy the ride. Dee lures you in with her delicate and vulnerable vocal tone at times reminiscent of Billie Eilish’s typical whisper-vocal delivery. ‘Nobody Like You’s irresistible hook is made even better by its upbeat drum groove and its ukulele-sounding plucky chord progression that simplifies itself in the verse sections before erupting into the chorus. Coming in at just over 2 minutes long, Dee and friend and collaborator Benjamin Nadeau (producer) have certainly ticked all the boxes for what should be TikTok’s favourite new sound, from upfront and relatable lyrics, catchy instrumental and pop structure and an absolute earworm of a vocal hook.

The 18-year-old singer-songwriter first came onto the scene with her single ‘Olivia’, a record that has already clocked in over 300,000 streams on Spotify alone. Dee describes that “I had so many people commenting on the ‘Olivia’ video. It touches you. Each and every comment I take to heart. It lets me know, ‘Hey, this could work.” And her latest track ‘Nobody Like You’ sure proves that once again
