Atlanta-born rapper, singer, and songwriter Lil Baby has been named the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) 2021 Songwriter of the Year.
The rapper’s latest achievement was announced on June 22. Songs like ‘For the Night’ by Pop Smoke, ‘Emotionally Scarred’ from his 2020 project ‘My Turn’, and ‘The Bigger Picture’ all contributed to Lil Baby scooping the award.
Lil Baby is the third Quality Control Music artist to bag the ASCAP Songwriter of the Year award. Cardi B and Quavo are previous recipients of the award. Hip-Hop icons Swizz Beatz and Timbaland were recipients of the ASCAP Voice of the Culture Award. Also, Club Quarantine founder DJ D Nice was a recipient of the Culture Award.
Lil Baby performed a live rendition of ‘The Bigger Picture’, which was released on June 23, to celebrate the award.
