If you’ve been a fan of Mallory Merk since her early days then chances are you’ve heard of her latest release North American Ride in the past as it has always been a fan favourite. The reflective piece has long left fans mesmerised at both live shows and in their bedrooms as they played out the old recording, losing themselves in the symbolism of the piece before reawakening back in the world they so briefly left behind for the land of their imagination.
This one for the dreamers and wanderers of the world, the people who dream of going somewhere, they don’t know where that destination is yet so they sit back and enjoy the ride savouring every second of the journey and the stops along the way that make the ride so worthwhile. Those who don’t know their destination simply enjoy the world and a rarely ever lost as others may perceive it. I listen to this track and one quote leaps out at me from an On The Road by Jack Kerouac that reflects the piece perfectly:
“The only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars.”
