If you were invested in the music scene back in the mid 2010’s then Michl is an artist you should remember because he truly blew up into the stratosphere. You couldn’t go anywhere without hearing people talk about the half Bolivian half Mexican musician despite the fact he didn’t let people know to much about him, he let his artistry be shrouded in mystery with no major social media presence that allowed his identity to be kept a secret. It’s been four years since we last got to hear a new track from his enigmatic electronic soul sound and now on this glorious day we’re being treated to something rather spellbinding.
After four explorative years away Holidays is all we could’ve wanted and then some with him expanding upon his expressive sound through glitched out electronic flourishes, hard-hitting drum beats and coruscating synths that all come clashing together in a euphonic explosion of astronomical quality. However the standout of his comeback is the lyrical journey we get taken on, at its core the track focuses on loss that was inspired by a traumatic family event within his own personal life, the poignant lyricisms are beautifully poetic and have left me utterly speechless in the best way imaginable. A stunning comeback from a rhapsody inducing musician.
