‘No Room For Love’ is a vulnerable confessional which comes as the second track off Majeeed‘s ‘Bitter Sweet’ record. Majeed, a singer and songwriter from Nigeria, became eminent for his elaborate songwriting and willowy vocal texture. Rubbing shoulders with and allying with his successful peers like Joeboy has seen the Afrobeats musician gain momentum in the market. When I first heard ‘No Room For Love’, I immediately caught its replay value. A chord progression reminiscent of Dencia’s ‘Ella Eh (Luv Like a Tsunami)’ and Drake’s ‘Hold On We’re Going Home’. When Majeeed begins recounting his troubled relationship and the bitter-sweet predicament he faces daily, it becomes clear how skilled a songwriter he is. The music video serves the purpose of giving visual context to the issues raised in the songs. I cannot get over seeing Majeed dancing the waltz with his love interest while a dozen sharp daggers hang on his back.
