The Birmingham quartet Outline previously caught our attention earlier in the year with their laidback single Blu-rays that brought the 90’s boyband style back with a fresh new style that gave this band a truly unique identity amongst the UK’s thriving pop scene. They fuse the UK’s deep history of classic Jazz melodies with modern lo-fi hip hop beats and compelling pop lyrics to craft a sound that makes an instant emotional connection with all those who listen. There’s a reason why so many people are swooning for them and I’d be lying if I wasn’t one of them.
Centrepiece is one of those love struck ballads that effortlessly recreates the feeling of butterflies in your stomach as you slowly realise you’ve fallen for someone and all you want is to confess your love for them but are terrified they might not reciprocate. The nostalgic memories flood your mind as the melodic production of laidback synths and lovelorn vocals have you reminisce over your own adolescence and the time where you thought the world would end if a no came your way. Outline have potential to be the next big export out of the UK and the more I hear from them the more I love them.
