If lockdown in the UK has taught us anything it’s that we need to stop rushing through life, instead we need to stop and savour the moments that we now look back upon and miss dearly. Be it sitting on the bus on our way to work looking out at all the people hustling throughout the city, a busker performing on the street with all the passion of a seasoned performer or just something as beautifully simple as watching the sunrise on a crisp January morning. It’s these little things that have inspired the elegant songstress Ruti who’s neo-soul sound makes you feel like you’re floating on air, especially within her latest spellbinding single My Sunrise.
The piece effortlessly puts a smile upon your face with the uplifting melodies allowing her ethereal vocal to glide effortlessly over the blithe production that radiates nothing but serene joy. Ruti makes you feel as if you’re there with her, you sit together talking through the night about your hopes, dreams, aspirations and finally you look out the window to watch the sun slowly rise together in moment of idyllic beauty that you’ll remember for years to come. A spellbinding affair that shows the magic that Ruti can make with her music.
“’My Sunrise’ isn’t really about or for anyone in particular,” Ruti begins to explain. “In some ways, I wrote it for myself. It’s a reminder that often there’s a lot more time to do things than I think I have and have to allow ourselves to stop or slow down sometimes. Obviously, I wrote in a Covid free time so I was imagining taking a break somewhere else for a while, but I still have to give myself space to breathe working from home, because it gets so overwhelming.”
