Born and raised in Winnipeg, the 19 year old Canadian musician Sandman started his journey back in high school where he found an unrivalled amount of joy from playing around with beats and melodies to craft intricate instrumentals that quickly lead to him picking up the pen and falling head over heels with songwriting. He doesn’t hide behind a veil of mystique with his storytelling, no his lyrics bare his soul to us with them reading like a stream of conscious thought. He isn’t afraid to share his emotions with us which, in turn, allows anyone who listens a chance to feel an almost instantaneous emotional connection with him that makes the lyrics become all the more raw and real.
Filled with charisma What Goes Up carries this special charm with it that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside as Sandman croons his love for his partner. The saying goes ‘what goes up must come down’ but he doesn’t feel that with this girl, he only feels euphoria inducing highs that make his inclinations that she could be the one all the more strong. The laidback production adds to this loved up atmosphere with it carrying that aura that came with The Beatles in tracks like Real Love, but it also has this Dominic Fike vibe that brings it into the modern era. Keep an eye on this one, he’s got potential.
