Poisonous – Larruso

Ever since Larruso shot into the spotlight in 2019, he has never missed on a track. The young Reggae/Dancehall artiste has been consistent and ‘Poisonous’ is a great song nicely delivered in patois.

Ticks – Siriboe featuring Wavy The Creator

This is my first time hearing of Siriboe and I am glad I stumbled on this song. It features Nigeria’s Wavy The Creator and is one of those smooth Hip-Hop Trap songs that make you want to either get hyped with your red cup in hand or just sit back, relax and vibe.

PhroDay – Phronesis

If you like your Dancehall with a splash of Afrobeats, you’d like this two track project. On ‘Mula’, Phronesis flexes his vocals singing about the hustle and prayer to make it in life and on ‘Ateka’, he takes African Dancehall up a notch and gives us an upbeat number about betrayal.

Catchy Catchy – Myx Quest featuring Kelvyn Boy, Efya and Camidoh

I may be biased because three of my favourite vocalists are on this song, but they finessed the hell out of it! Myx Quest is a UK-based Ghanaian producer and I have to commend him for the Ghanaian Highlife feel he added to the song. The simplicity of the song resonates well with the love theme and the keyboard and strings complement it all.

RKWM – Nagyi

The unique thing about this Hip-Hop track is how it breaks off at some point and gives way for some authentic ‘Jama like’ sound. ‘RKWM’ basically means ‘Real Killas With Me’ and the energy from the rapper, Nagyi, is palpable! The song is part of his latest album, ‘Sleep When I’m Rich’.

Anadwo – Kwame Yesu featuring Black Sherif & Kimilist

There’s almost something spiritual about this Hip-Hop Drill song. ‘Anadwo’ is the Ghanaian Twi word for ‘Evening/Night’ and the song basically means “focus in your hustle”. Black Sherif puts so much emotion on the chorus, there’s no way you aren’t singing along to this without feeling.

Falling – Dayonthetrack

If you are looking for pure undiluted Afrobeats with amazing vocals, this is the song. There’s some sweetness and freshness to this song that catches and holds your attention till it ends.

Kamandiok – Spcghst featuring Kuvie & Avit

‘Kamandiok’ is a soft Afro-Fusion song from the band Spcghst, with vocals from the singer, Avit. You’d find it on the project, ‘Alt.Spc Files (Side A)’ and trust me when I say, listening to that whole project in itself is a trip! If you are a fan of the budding Alte scene, you’d find the fusions and production interesting.
