Raw unadulterated animosity with the angst filled ferocity of the pop punk movement, the Nashville based trio Tramp Stamps are a fresh unfiltered voice who belt out societal truths with their signature humour being at the centre of it all. With just two releases to their name, before today, they’ve already shown off the high amounts of star quality they possess as well as the versatility of their sound by going from an explosively bombastic debut to a more sensitive follow up. They’re the new rock icons of the modern era as they take the bad-ass nature of Joan Jett, the addictive hooks of Paramore as well as the passionate vocals of No Doubt and fuse them all together to form an untameable self expressing band who know what they want.
I’d Rather Die is another jewel in their songwriting crown with the chorus featuring a string of names they hope to never encounter again, the Chad’s, the Jason’s, the Kyle’s, you get the idea. It’s a blisteringly fast paced anthem against straight-white boy mediocrity as they openly announce, “I’d rather die / Than hook up with another straight white guy,” whilst also stating how they’re tired of faking their enjoyment of their time together. The addictive storytelling is hard to ignore, the pulsating production is enticing and the whole vibe of this track is something that makes it perfect for belting out in your room or going crazy in the car to. This band are icons in the making.
