Earlier this year, Texas-native actress Kelly Dowdle made an epic move to music under the moniker Kelly Monrow. The singer-songwriter closes 2022 on a high note and achieves notable success with her recent album Scars of Venus, which is “a collection of songs” that helps the talented performer discover herself by “stepping into womanhood and owning the past.”
Monrow admits, “…to have affirmation that people do in fact resonate with my words and enjoy it is super touching and makes me really happy. I think the best thing I have heard so far is that my voice bleeds authenticity and you can hear my spirit and heart in the words of my music. I think that is the highest compliment I can receive because that is the true reason I am doing music.”
Kelly’s sound is a compilation of various genre elements. In a recent interview, she explains that although Country music is the roots of her music, she went “a little more Americana/Pop with this album.” Monrow says, “I don’t think I will ever be in one genre. I plan to just write and create whatever comes through me and see where it leads me. I think we get in funk when we try to create ourselves into a particular category or genre.”
Great things await the artist in the coming year as well. In addition to recording new material and performing live, Kelly Monrow plans to release the music videos for “Wounds” and “Pain Turns To Love,” following “Wake Up,” “Ain’t Mine,” “Jagged Heart” and “The Woman.” Alongside her music career, the fast-rising star is all set to return to the big screen with her anticipated feature, Three Days Rising, starring Mickey Rourke, Peter Greene, Bo Dietl, and Vincent Young.
