At 19 years of age the California based musician Adam Pastel has certainly been making a name for himself in the industry with previous releases this year showing off his vibrant soundscape such as the piano trap ballad WHEN UR AROUND or the candid piece about homesickness HOME. He’s been consistently excelling with his exceptional soundscape that melts together the classic hooks that come with pop music, delectable R&B melodies that have us swooning and pulsating hip hop beats. Pastel doesn’t blend into the background, he pushes himself to the front and stands out from the crowd like a neon sign on a pitch black night.
His debut album MISTAKEN MEMORIES recently came out and showcases his multifaceted soundscape in all its coruscating glory whilst still maintaining his well known heart-on-sleeve lyricisms and storytelling. Previous singles all feature on the project but we also get some new additions with the likes of LAST SUMMER that nostalgically welcomes us to the lovelorn tale this project begs to tell us before launching into the rhythmically intoxicating REWIND, one of highlights of the LP for me. We also get emotionally enticing tracks such as BACKSEAT and MISTAKES, both of which highlight Pastel’s ability to effortlessly weave a heartfelt narrative that connects with you instantly as his melancholy vocal gently croon over the atmospheric production.
This is just the beginning for Adam Pastel, 2020 has been his breakout year and 2021 looks like it’ll be even better for the rising artist.
