An artist who I’ve recently discovered and have been listening to ever since is Ebony Loren. Ebony has been singing for as long as she can remember, she’s also a self-taught guitar and piano player– artistry has always been in her path. Her music is heavily inspired by jazz and R&B however what she’s creating falls more into a lo-fi-pop sound. Regardless of the genre her instrumentation and vocals are gorgeous on every track, Ebony’s recent release “Tongue Tied” is the perfect single to get you acquainted with her sound.
I might compare Ebony to artists such as Beabadoobee, Mxmtoon, or Omar Apollo, she doesn’t necessarily sound like these artists but her music would fit nicely among the three in a playlist. Ebony’s music is a form of expression and you can hear the emotion in each lyric complimented by her gentle tone. “Tongue Tied” appears to be somewhat of a love song as she’s entranced by the likes of another person. The song is fun and light, it’s the soundtrack to the start of crush, these two aren’t quite together but Ebony is infatuated and wants to get to know the other person.
The production of this track is beautiful and dreamy, it reminds me of a fairytale or Disney princess. Ebony harmonizes eloquently over the introduction and it almost sounds like how butterflies in your stomach feel. I love the subtle romance of this song, it’s innocent and hopeful. Ebony’s music is perfect for your rainy-day playlist, a chill night in listening to music at home, or maybe a long solo walk at sunset.
Regardless of when or where you’re listening, I hope you’re tuning in to Ebony Loren. Start with “Tongue Tied” and then browse her catalog. There are sounds for everyone with some of her top tracks being “O Pato” and “All That I Need” which are equally worth the listen. I hope you enjoy Ebony’s music and continue following along on her journey.
